Next Map Arkaim

Being a unique archeological site – accidentally discovered in 1987 in a steppe area that was planned to be flooded – Arkaim now attracts tourists, scientists and the esoteric from over the world.

It is located in the Chelyabinsk Region, in the South Urals, close to the border with Kazakhstan. Presumably in the 17th century BC there used to be a settlement of the Sintashta-Petrovka culture. As soon as archeologists discovered this, they managed to convince the Soviet authorities to drop the idea of flooding the site of huge historical value.

According to some views, there is a mystery as to how and why exactly the people emigrated from the place, as there is a theory that they left all their belongings as they were as if something forced them to leave all of a sudden.
