For many of us – and the team here at Nokia Connects are certainly no exception – social media have become part of our everyday lives. Making connections and reaching out to people across the world is the air we breath and shapes the way we create, consume and innovate. But how do we know how well we’re doing in relation to others, and how can we increase our impact on social media platforms in a simple and measurable way? Empire Avenue has the answer.
via KEXINO
Empire Avenue is essentially a platform that allows you to evaluate the influence of your social media network. It works as a virtual ‘trading floor’, where people and companies can buy shares in each other a using virtual currency known as ‘Eaves’. The more active you are on social media, the greater your share value, and the more likely people are to invest in you.
Nokia has been present on the Empire Avenue network for nearly a year, and I spoke to Senior System Analyst Tim Gorree to get to the bottom of why he thinks EAv is a game changer in the networked world of social media.
According to Tim, Empire Avenue is an ‘influence broker or a reputation management tool’. It uses the principles of the stock market to transform your social media presence into a form of revenue, and in so doing creates new ways for people to interact and connect with each other. ‘It’s Klout plus Gamification‘ – turning something virtual into something measurable in a fun and engaging way.
‘On Empire Avenue it is very transparent what people and companies are doing with social media. When you sign up on EAv you see that there is more to social media then just Twitter and Facebook.’
Since joining EAv, Nokia has achieved more than 3,500 shareholders, and has ‘invested’ in socially active people from around the world. ‘The advantage of Empire Avenue,’ says Tim, ‘is that the people using it are also the people who are most active on social media.’ They are the trendsetters and the innovators, and EAv provides a quick and easy way to connect and share with them. It’s social media rocket fuel.
So why should you sign up to Empire Avenue? It’s a fun and easy way for you to manage and track all your different social media presences – not only because it puts everything in the same place, but because you can also see how your activity compares to other people’s. This introduces a competitive element that helps you improve the way you are using social media. it also allows you to connect with brands such as Nokia, AT&T, Intel etc. and see what they are doing across all their social presences.
Are you active on EAv and want to let us know? Or just want to track our progress on social media? Then find us on Twitter and tell us all about it!

Just a little confusing sometimes how one’s market values go up and down, no matter what one does. Otherwise fun to log in everyday and play the SE game

Team NOKIA, you guys have been absolutely stellar and an excellent example on how a corporate SM outfit can conduct business, I wish I was in a position where I could practice what you guys have been doing. I do not use a NOKIA phone, and had no interest, but in terms of Brand recognition you guys have simply kicked ass with your Empire Avenue works.

I joined EAV a little over 1 week ago, and I have found it to be a great way to connect with other users and get interaction boosted on my social media sites and blogs. I’ve also found some great new sites and people that I otherwise wouldn’t have known about (including your site here).
I love it so far and hope to be a long-term active user!

I think what your doing on ea is great.
I’m going to try the contact button above however to go into detail on a great concept I have for you that all other backwards thinking companies from Verizon to Pepsi have not seen a vision in.

EA’s exchange and dividend systems are effective in generating excitement and promotion for itself and its members. This has led to significant group-supported streams on other social media and some contacts who have more interactions with eachother than anything else so it goes beyond just “max-ing out”.

Initially I mistook Empire Avenue (EA) as another game, well, I was wrong. I have gain quite a lot of exposure from EA , along with connecting with some real people, really nice people. So if you are reading this and are not on EA as yet, do so, because you have everything to gain and less to lose, Cheers

Couldn’t agree more, I’ve met some fantastic people via Empire Avenue that have helped to boost my knowledge of the social media artform.
I’m trying things now I just didn’t know existed and I’m massively addicted to the game side too.
Even got to trial a Nokia Lumia 800 as a result of my game play. A big thanks to Nokia for that!
