Consoles and PC's have had a slow month interms of new AAA quality games arriving for your respected platform. While January got off to a slow start, it quickly recovered to bring us high quality tittles through digital distribution. Plenty of great downloadable arcade tittles were made available through XBLA, PSN and Steam, giving us many hidden gems on the digital marketplace. Let's look back at the games we reviewed over the past month.

Every Tuesday, Sony brings its PlayStation faithful new content, add-ons for your favorite games, Themes and avatars for your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. Again another standard week of PSN goods you can get, but for the most part the main draw are going to be demos. Twisted Metal is finally going to hit store shelves and the fans of  the series will be eager to get their hands on the multiplayer demo now available.

Every Tuesday, Sony brings its Playstation faithful new content, add-ons for your favorite games, Themes and avatars for your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. For those who have the Playstation Plus, you can now get telltale's Back to The Future game for free. Ever wanted to find out what happened and wanted to continue your adventures with Marty Mcfly and Doc? Now is your chance, as you get all the six episodic for free. Another game you can get thanks to your PSN Plus membership is Sword & Soldiers. It's an enjoyable 2D sidescrolling strategy game that is highly replayable with a group of friends.

Jenny McCarthy has remained active in the videogame space over the years. The former Playboy Playmate grew up beating guys at videogames. And the actress has gone virtual in Electronic Arts’ Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. Most recently, she worked with Ubisoft to promote the popular Your Shape fitness franchise. The actress gets her game on in this exclusive video interview below.

With ABC’s hit TV show, “Dancing with the Stars,” ready to kick off a new season, Ubisoft has embarked on a partnership with female soccer players Hope Solo, a contestant on the new show, and Alex Morgan for the Just Dance Summer Party video game.  Seen challenging each other in “Futebol Crazy,” the lauded stars give viewers a sneak peek into how they stay agile and entertained away from the soccer field in the video below.

Fitness is about to become a lot more fun with Striiv. The Silicon Valley-based start-up revealed its first product which takes active gaming outside of the living room to turn everyday activities into fitness opportunities.  A sleek, portable fitness device, Striiv motivates activity throughout the day via games, personal goals, and donation opportunities -- all powered by physical activity. The $99 device hits retail shelves in mid-October.

Carrie Swidecki, a 35 year old public school teacher from Bakersfield, CA, got her exergaming groove on and broke the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon on a Dance / Rhythm Game playing DanceDanceRevolution (SuperNova 2 arcade game) in Charleston, West Virginia. Swidecki broke the previously held record of 13 hours 33 minutes 56 seconds, set in the United Kingdom in October, 2010, with a time of 15 hours, 17 minutes and 44 seconds.

Since the Wii came out, we've been inundated and inundated with fitness title after fitness title. Some do it wonderfully--a game like EA Active comes to mind, while others, shall we call them shovelware fitness titles, tend to just plain suck. Yes, it's difficult for me to throw the word suck around, but think of all the mediocre fitness titles that have come to your motion controlled consoles. And now here comes UFC Personal Trainer, which in my opinion is the savior I was looking for as it related to fitness games.

THQ and Zuffa have expanded their partnership beyond the upcoming UFC 3 to include one of the big games of 2011, UFC Personal Trainer. Designed by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) with support from leading mixed martial arts (MMA) training experts Mark DellaGrotte, Greg Jackson and Javier Mendez, who have worked with renowned UFC fighters such as current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, current UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, the fitness routines and full programs included in UFC Personal Trainer will deliver a challenging and motivating UFC fitness experience that includes the best and most effective exercises utilized by today’s renowned UFC fighters.

Next Tuesday, THQ unleashes UFC Personal Trainer, a title that they have been showing off and promoting for quite some time now.  In it, players are tasked with being put through a round of workouts by a UFC/MMA Trainer. Along with a review of the game next Tuesday, I will be chronicling my experience with the game over 30 days. In the words of the legendary Barney Stinson, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

LOS ANGELES – While most people who attend E3 are there for work, one lucky pair of attendees were the recipients of a very cool prize. T-Mobile flew Mike and his girlfriend to Los Angeles as the winners of the T-Mobile LG G2X E3 contest. But once at the video game convention, Mike proposed to his long-time girlfriend with the help of game developer Harmonix.

LOS ANGELES -- Dwight Howard was at the Ritz Carlton before the start of E3 2011 to announce his latest video game collaboration. Howard, who was the cover athlete of Midway Games’ NBA Ballers: Chosen One, is now part of a new fitness and training game from THQ called adidas miCoach. Dwight Howard is joined by athletes like Kaka, Tyson Gay, Jessica Ennis, Ana Ivanovic and Eric Berry to serve as personal video trainers for gamers interested in sports like basketball, soccer, football, and tennis.

Students across the state of West Virginia have answered the call of First Lady Michelle Obama and her Let’s Move campaign and are dancing to the beat in an effort to stay healthy and have fun. In the 2011 DanceDanceRevolution Championship Tournament, youths from elementary, middle and high schools throughout the West Virginia public school system are promoting a healthier lifestyle and heart-pumping game play while competing for a $2,500 scholarship and prizes in each age division. Konami held a similar contest in Hawaii earlier this year, which can be seen in the video below.
