LOS ANGELES – At Call of Duty XP 2011, Activision debuted the world premiere of Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish. The short film is a sequel by filmmakers from digital agency We Can Pretend and visual effects company The Junction. Set between the events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, the film tracks the origin story for soldiers Soap and Price. The sequel was funded by Activision, after the original became an Internet sensation and the game maker Infinity Ward loved what they saw from the passion project. See what Activision funding adds to fan filmmaking in the video below.

LOS ANGELES – The inaugural Call of Duty XP event, commonly referred to as XP 2011, is officially over. Kanye West rapped the night away in front of celebrities like Maria Schriver, Teri Hatcher and Ron Artest to close out the two-day video game event. But by then, many of the gamers had already exited the massive hangars that housed an exclusive hands-on opportunity with Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games were on hand to reveal all of the multiplayer details and five new maps for MW3, while beach Head Studios was there to reveal the $50 annual price point and exclusive content for the accompanying Call of Duty Elite service. The video walkthrough below gives a glimpse of what was happening inside and outside the massive Raleigh Studios complex in Playa Vista.

The Call of Duty XP event has come to a close, and as we sit here and wait for the shuttle to the airport, we can't help but look back at all the great stuff it had.  Mutliplayer competitions, outdoor events, freebie giveaways, concerts...Activision spared no expense in assuring us that we would have a good time.  However, there was one conspicuous item that was sorely missing from the proceedings -- we didn't get to look at the Campaign Mode.

Even though XP 2011 has come to a close, the excitement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just begun.  The game is just a little over two months from release, and players will have a lot to look forward to in the game's campaign, Spec Ops co-op and multiplayer.  And though the $59.99 edition will offer all of this, some of you might consider upgrading to the Hardened Edition for $40 more.  Activision explained what's all included in this package.

Call of Duty XP has officially come to a close -- for this year, and it might just come back -- and what better way to close it out than with a powerhouse tournament for a big amount of cash?  Saturday night, actor Nick Swardson and YouTube sensation iJustine hosted the final battle between L.A. based team OpTic gaming and the UK-based team Infinity.  And a battle it was -- but in the end, the local crew managed to do the gaming world proud and win the tournament.

The Xbox 360 is take huge precedence at the Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles this week, as Microsoft is co-sponsoring the event and the million dollar Modern Warfare 3 tournament.  But that’s not all – Microsoft and Activision are also teaming up to produce yet another limited edition game console, just as they did with Modern Warfare 2 a couple of years ago.  The difference?  This one’s way better.

A lot of folks aren’t there aren’t too crazy about subscription plans or season passes, but to be honest, game companies set them up to try and save people a little cash.  The Call of Duty Elite Premium Membership is no exception, and Activision broke down what to expect from the service, and how it complements Modern Warfare 3 with exclusive content.

Los Angeles – Microsoft used Activision’s first annual Call of Duty XP fan festival to unveil its latest bundle. The Xbox 360 Limited Edition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 console, wireless headset with Bluetooth and wireless controllers will ship to retail this fall.
