According to Forbes, pop singing sensation Justin Bieber spent a day performing motion-capture for NBA 2K13. 2K Sports worked with Bieber and his crew in Los Angeles on February 21st to capture their hoops moves, possibly for the game’s rumored celebrity street ball mode.

NBA 2K12 continues to run at a fever pitch in the second half of the shortened NBA season.  The Game of the Year edition is set to hit Best Buy store shelves next week, at a decent price of $49.99; and to help further celebrate the basketball season, Microsoft has added a new jersey to its Xbox Live Avatar line-up that New York Knicks fans in particular will take interest in.  Nope, it's not Carmelo Anthony.  It's Jeremy Lin!

Linsanity continues to captivate the world. And in Orlando, Jeremy Lin was a hot topic amongst the NBA All-Stars. New York Knicks NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony fielded a lot of Lin questions. But one he did address was the upgrade of Lin in 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12 game. Lin actually received two player upgrades in one week because of his Cinderella story in the NBA. Anthony talks about the in-game player ratings in this exclusive video interview below.

Miami Heat 2012 NBA All-Star LeBron James has been having a career year during the strike-shortened season. With 66 games crammed into a short schedule, James hasn’t been able to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as much as he’d like. The King talks videogames in this exclusive interview from Orlando.

While many NBA All-Stars complain about their ratings and believe they should have higher numbers, Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo surprised the gaming world last year in Los Angeles by saying his character was overrated. And with his player rating now even higher, Rondo sticks with his assessment in Orlando. Rondo talks about videogames in this exclusive video interview below.

For the past couple of years, 2K Sports has literally dominated the paint with its NBA 2K series, starting with teaming up with Michael Jordan for NBA 2K11 and eventually other legends in NBA 2K12.  But now, EA Sports, a company that’s been out of the simulation basketball game since it scuttled its NBA Elite 11 project, is about to hit the hard court once again with the recently announced NBA Live 13.  The real question is, does it stand a chance?

ORLANDO -- Utah Jazz Forward Jeremy Evans used an aggressive write-in campaign to get into the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest here in Orlando at NBA All-Star Weekend. He used an aggressive two ball, mid-air dunk to win it. In the second of his three dunks, Evans caught two balls mid-air from Jazz teammate Gordon Haywood and slammed them down in succession for the best dunk of the night. We talked to Jeremy Evans before the Slam Dunk Contest in this exclusive video where he talks about getting dunk ideas off YouTube and wanting a higher slam dunk rating in NBA 2K12. After winning the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, we think he deserves to dunk better in NBA 2K12.

This is the first NBA All-Star Game in Orlando since 1992, marking the 20th Anniversary of Magic Johnson’s Historic All-Star MVP. This year also celebrates Kobe Bryant’s record tying 14th consecutive All-Star selection. Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin, who wowed the world at last year’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, is back for the festivities (but not the dunk contest). Griffin talks about his love of videogames and 3D in this exclusive video interview below.

New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is the very definition of a rising star. Linsanity took over not only the Big Apple, but the entire world over the month of February. And along the way the Knicks went on a win streak. The success of Lin on the court resulted in an unprecedented two player upgrades from 2K Sports and developer Visual Concepts. Lin catapulted from a 56 to a 75 in the matter of a week in NBA 2K12. Lin talks about the upgrades in this exclusive video interview from the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.

Although videogames aren’t as big a part of NBA All-Star this year with Sony PlayStation no longer sponsoring the Player’s Lounge and 2K Sports sitting out the event completely, EA Sports did make news by announcing NBA Live 13 and showing the game to select players in Orlando. Chris Paul, who's a big gamer and former 2K Sports cover athlete, was on hand to promote his new Jordan sneakers in the video below.

When it comes to basketball simulation games as of late, users have only had one real genuine choice -- NBA 2K.  Granted, there's nothing wrong with 2K Sports' basketball series, as it practically nails everything that the sport is supposed to be about in every way possible.  But we do miss the feeling of competition.  See, at one point, EA Sports was working on a contender with its NBA Live series, but then something happened, and it vanished.  But don't be too alarmed, folks.  The folks at EA are primed for a comeback.

Well, it seems 2K Sports is very pro-active to what NBA 2K12 gamers want and they wanted a better Jeremy Lin to create Linsanity magic in their NBA 2K12 games with their virtual Lins.  Just two days after 2K Sports upgraded Lin to 69 from 56 in the NBA 2K12 "Living Rosters" update, they upgraded him again to 75 today in another update, which is closer to where Lin should probably be even after he cools down from his Linsane pace, which he inevitably will.

02.15.12

With Linsanity fever taken up another notch with Jeremy Lin's last second, tie-breaking three point shot heroics to beat the Toronto Raptors yesterday 90-87, NBA 2K12 has just come out with its latest "Living Roster" update and Lin has gone up from 56 to 69 in his NBA 2K12 ratings. While that's not bad for a kid that wasn't even on the radar six games ago let alone on the New York Knicks roster two months ago, many NBA 2K12 gamers are wondering, is the new rating too low?

02.15.12

NBA 2K12 has been roaring up the basketball charts over the past few months, mainly due to the lack of a (direct) competitor.  But it's still one hell of a sim, and players everywhere have been dunking and raining three's, even if it's without New York Knicks superstar Jeremy Lin.  (But, yeah, we know you play as him sometime.  Admit it.)  Now the madness is set to continue next month, as Best Buy has announced a new edition that will be sold exclusively through them.
