The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) has taken the first in-depth study that provides an exclusive look at the first-hand experiences of nearly 3,100 3D-compatible television (3DTV) owners. Overwhelmingly, consumers reported a positive entertainment experience, minimal price premiums, and enthusiasm about the future of 3D content. Vizio talks about its latest 3DTV in the exclusive video interview below.

Co-located this year with the 3D Gaming Summit: 3D Gaming & Beyond and the LA Mobile Entertainment Summit, keynote and featured speakers at the three conferences included Co-Chairmen James Cameron and Vince Pace, CAMERON | PACE Group; Tom Rothman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Fox Filmed Entertainment; Bryan Burns, Vice President Strategic Business Planning and Development, ESPN; Michael V. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG will be the first recipient of the 3D Visionary Award. The presentation will be made at the 4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit in association with Variety, scheduled for September 20-22 at the Hollywood & Highland Center, Hollywood, CA. Mr. Katzenberg, a keynote speaker at several previous summits, will address the conference via taped remarks on Wednesday, September 21st at 11:30am PT. 3D and visual effects veteran Phil “Captain 3D” McNally, who has collaborated with Katzenberg on such films as Puss in Boots, Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda 2, and How to Train Your Dragon, among others, will accept the award in person on Katzenberg’s behalf.

At the 2011 3D Entertainment Summit, part of CE Week in New York, Vice President of Marketing for LG Mobile Phones, Tim O’Brien, delivered remarks on technology’s important role in the evolution of entertainment. Illustrating how 3D enabled mobile devices will be the next step in the natural evolution of entertainment, O’Brien declared that user-generated content will fuel the overall 3D experience. O’Brien added that with the launch of LG THRILL 4G; all consumers will have access to this next-generation technology, breaking former accessibility, technology and content barriers.   

With 3D still all the rage in Hollywood and video games getting a 3D boost with big titles like Killzone 3 for PlayStation 3 and Crysis 2 for all consoles and PC -- plus new stereo and autostereo mobile 3D gaming and entertainment options like Nintendo 3DS and new Tegra tablets -- New York City is getting its own 3D convention. The 3D Entertainment Summit, 3D Gaming Summit and the NY Mobile Entertainment  Summit, presented in association with Variety and produced by Unicomm, LLC and The Bob Dowling Group, will bring the highly acclaimed entertainment series of events to the east coast this June in New York City. The 3D TV market will spend the next couple of years establishing itself and accumulating a base of content and devices -- both TVs and Blu-ray players. According to ABI Research, market growth will start to accelerate in 2012 with shipments of 3D TV sets approaching 50 million in 2015.
