Challenging Star Darshan’s film “Chingaari’ which is getting released in over 180 theatres in the state is having a big time in multiplexes also.   Normally the trade analysts always felt Darshan’s appeal is limited to single screen theatres where he is a  real Sultan and the single screens  openings were always huge.  Even Darshan’s previous block buster film Sarathee opened to a lukewarm response in multiplexes in Bengaluru, but picked up the collections a little later after the film became a big success in  the single screens.

But Harsha directed  “Chingaari’  presents a different picture.  The film is not only released in maximum number of multiplexes, but the online bookings have been quite satisfactory.  Though the online bookings have not yet matched that of  films of  Punith Raj Kumar or a Sudeep yet,  the bookings have been the best so far for a Challenging Star film.  The multiplex executives have shown more interest in providing the opportunity of more screens for  the film.

Rockline Mall Multiplex which has now become  a big earner for Kannada films in recent days is screening “Chingaari’  ten  shows per day. PVR, Gopalan Mall (RR Nagar, Bannerghatta and Sirsi Circle) and Inox multiplexs in Bengaluru are screening four shows each, while Gopalan Cinemas in Raja Rajeswari Nagar has got an excellent online booking with nearly 75 percent of seats booked by early in the morning of Friday.  The online bookings have been satisfactory for day one.

The real picture will emerge only at the show timings for each multiplex.

Since the multiplexes are screening forty four shows per day, Chingaari is benefiting largely in the first week when the percentage of  share is  on 50:50 basis for the multiplex and the film distributor respectively.   Even if the shows will be filled to an extent of forty percent in the first week, then the percentage share for the distributor will be larger than other Kannada films except that of Puneeth’s Jackie and Paramathma, Upendra’s “Super’ or Sudeep’s  “Vishnuvardhana’.
