    Played it for the first time tonight. The game is just way, way too much man. It's just dazzling. You don't know what's going. You fall into traps at the most inconvenient times so often that you're almost convinced the game's reading your mind. It's rigged. Has to be.

    @gringbot I agree with you. The new items won't hurt you that much unless your in the middle of the group of racers (8th, 7th, 6th, and 5th) where such as Big mushrooms and the Pow block will discourage you if you get hit by it. What I feel is that they overuse the items such as the Lightning Bolt, The Star, and the Blue Shell where it constantly hits in first or anyother place. Especially, when you have a good item such as golden mushrooms, the Bullet Bill, and the star, you lose it because of mostly the lightning bolt.

    I'm familiar with the franchise and this is by far the best. Mario Kart: Double Dash(GC) was also great.

    I've played this with friends numerous times, and I need to own this game. It's really fun, perhaps just as much as Double Dash. This shall go on my Chirstmas list...

    Modnation Racers is not better, bigger (more options) does not make it better, just like GTA:vice city and san andreas, san andreas is bigger but not better.
    People will never forget Mario kart, maybe modnation racers will be forgotten in a couple of years but not mario kart. @nitzan_z , short? there is also an online function, maybe its not huge compared to modnation racers, but still good fun and it will never stop, only if you want to.

    modnation, so not better than mk since it has 15 yrs of XP w/ this franchise
