New El Shaddai project teased

Japanese teaser website hints that Ignition preparing news concerning future of action franchise for sometime this year.

A new El Shaddai project appears to be in the works. A Japanese teaser website for the brand has gone live, hinting that news concerning the future of the franchise will arrive sometime in 2012.

The site displays five characters (at right), as well as a line of text, which Andria Sang translates to: "Who is the ultimate angel God speaks of?"

No further information is available, and as of press time, publisher Ignition Entertainment had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron shipped in August 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to a warm critical reception.

Last month, worldwide media and entertainment behemoth Disney acquired Ignition parent company UTV Software Communications as part of the House of Mouse's push into India.

    Though I like the first one, I hope the second had a better combat system and that it take full advantage of the HD consoles capabilities rather than showing pretty arts and using only one action button. There are lots of buttons on the PS3 and Xbox 360 controller for a reason, if they can't take advantage of those then they might as well port this game for the Atari 2600.

    It's an amazing game, anyone who hasn't played it yet needs to pick it up. It's only $20 now and I'm sure you could find it for less!

    The first game was certainly a visual treat, but the combat was seriously lacking. I always joked that the ability to hammer buttons to bring you back to life was a failsafe because the blocking, evading and countering is pretty poor.

    Great news; I was worried that there wasn't going to be a sequel because I remember reading that the developers of that game said it was (for the most part) a one-off deal, but apparently it's looking to not be the case anymore. : ) Loved the first game, so I can't wait to see what unfolds.

    Wonderful news! I haven't played it yet, though I still plan to get it, but I always admired its uniqueness. It's great to see a game like that get a sequel. Love it when we get to those niche Japanese titles thrive.

    lol, just bought this game for 8 bucks, funny coincidence. I actually like the combat but it gets repetitive, the art direction, however, is incredible.

    @Kitty_Fields
    I second that. And less platforming, more combat. Some of the boss battles were quite fun, but generic enemies left a lot to be desired. Seriously, only 4 type of enemies throughout the entire game?

    I love how people complain about how simplistic and easy the gameplay was. But God of War consists of button mashing and hoping for the best outcome, I don't see any complains there.

    Wow, I'm surprised El Shaddai will be getting a sequel.

    The original was a pretty mediocre game, though its art direction was fantastic. The game had so much potential, but the combat was pretty boring.

    Well this is good news.
    But why is Lucifel dressed like a pirate? and is that Enoch dressed like a samurai?

    @Hirasugi
    I can understand that. The combat could of been better, but I enjoyed the music and the flashy effects that was going around during battles. It's kind of similar to the Ultimate Ninja Storm games: flashy, but simple combat. And thanks lol.

    Decent game, very nice aesthetic but poor gameplay in my opinion. I think with some sequel polish this can turn out to be something great

    @Okamiiiii
    lol nice name dude. Okami is like the best game ever
