Hal Bidlack, Ph.D.
Dr. Bidlack was a career officer in the United States Air Force, leaving active duty with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the summer of 2006. His postings included service as Deputy Director of the United States Air Force Institute for National Security Studies, as a military advisor to an Ambassador at the Department of State in Washington, DC. (working security issues in Europe and Asia), as an ICBM launch officer/instructor, and for many years he was an Associate Professor of Political Science at the Air Force Academy. He served over 25 years in the Air Force, and now devotes himself full time to performing and writing.
He holds all his academic degrees from the University of Michigan, including a doctorate in Political Science. His dissertation, in environmental policy making, focused on the role of the military in environmental operations.
Dr. Bidlack taught political science from 1988 to 1993, 1996 to 2001, and from 2002 to 2006 (with 3 years out for graduate school). He specialized in American national government issues, the Founding, and environmental affairs.
During summer academic breaks, he twice served at the White House as Director of Global Environmental Affairs for the National Security Council. In that position, Dr. Bidlack provided direct support to the President and the Vice President on environmental security issues. He also served briefly at the Pentagon, working on the START negotiations.
Dr. Bidlack’s great interest in Alexander Hamilton was a direct result of his friendship with the great Jefferson scholar, Dr. Clay Jenkinson.
He is a widower, and the father of three great kids.
