Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Continues Supporting the BIRN

The  Federal Department  of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland continues supporting the BIRN Justice Series Programme this and next year.

 

The Justice Series Programme of BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina has received support from the Swiss  Federal Department of Foreign Affairs for four years in a row.

The successful cooperation, that began in 2005, by preparing the Bosnian media and civil society for following war crime trials conducted before the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, continued by establishing BIRN news agency called Justice Report.

During the past period BIRN, with the help from the Swiss  Federal Department  of Foreign Affairs, has made daily reports on war crime trials conducted before courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and successfully established Justice Radio, which produce daily audio reports intended for Bosnian and regional electronic media.

On May 6, 2009 the Swiss Government , represented by the Swiss Embassy in Sarajevo,  and BIRN Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed an agreement on financing the future work of Justice Report and other activities under the Justice Series Programme by the end of 2010.

Besides the Justice Report publication and Justice Radio, within its Justice Series Programme BIRN intends to initiative a new television programme in the coming period. Besides reports on war crime trials conducted before local courts, this programme will feature analytical and investigative reviews of transitional justice and facing the past processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Justice Report is the only two-language publications focusing on reporting on war crime trials conducted before local courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and transitional justice process in the country.
