Oscar-winning writer, director and producer James Cameron and business partner Vince Pace will keynote the fourth annual 3D Entertainment Summit. The event will take place Sept. 20-22 at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles. As part of the summit, a full day will be devoted to video games, 3D Gaming and Beyond. Cameron worked with Ubisoft to develop a 3D Avatar game, which shipped before the number one movie of all time hit theaters.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG will be the first recipient of the 3D Visionary Award. The presentation will be made at the 4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit in association with Variety, scheduled for September 20-22 at the Hollywood & Highland Center, Hollywood, CA. Mr. Katzenberg, a keynote speaker at several previous summits, will address the conference via taped remarks on Wednesday, September 21st at 11:30am PT. 3D and visual effects veteran Phil “Captain 3D” McNally, who has collaborated with Katzenberg on such films as Puss in Boots, Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda 2, and How to Train Your Dragon, among others, will accept the award in person on Katzenberg’s behalf.

Unicomm and The Bob Dowling Group have announced speakers and sessions for the second annual 3D Gaming Summit: 3D Gaming and Beyond presented in association with Variety. Scheduled for Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Hollywood & Highland Center, Hollywood, CA, the new summit will take place the same week as the 3D Entertainment Summit and LA Mobile Entertainment Summit. The gaming summit is expanding beyond 3D this year to look at some of the hottest sectors of games, including cloud gaming, mobile game and augmented reality.  Producers have also confirmed Mick Hocking, Vice President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, as a featured speaker. Hocking oversees all 3D game development for Sony.

Unicomm is bringing its popular 3D Entertainment Summit to New York City for the first time. The event, which sold out last year in Los Angeles, will focus on all aspects of 3D entertainment, including 3D video games. In addition, Unicomm will host a simultaneous NY Mobile Entertainment Summit on the same dates, June 21-22, at the same New York Hilton venue. Both events are Official Partners with CE Week in New York, which runs June 20-25, 2011 as part of a reciprocal partnership agreement. M. Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D was the first video game movie filmed in 3D. And it made a killing at the global box office bringing in almost $300 million. So it’s no surprise that Screen Gems has greenlit a fifth film. Resident Evil: Begins is a prequel to the movie franchise. And it will be the first film that won’t focus on Milla Jovovich’s Alice character, instead telling the story of video game character Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory). Paul W.S. Anderson, who has produced all of the Resident Evil films, talks about directing the last film in 3D in this exclusive video interview.
