Dutch pro audio company, Alcons Audio, are to provide the sound for a venue at the world-famous SXSW (South by Southwest) festival in the Texan state capital of Austin.
SXSW—founded in 1987—whose musical element will take place between March 13th and 18th and will see over 2000 musical performances take place between 90 venues. However, the event has grown over the years to incorporate film and interactive elements—taking place between March 9th and 17th and March 9th and 13th, respectively—as well as music.
Last year the event is supposed to have generated over $167 million for the local economy making it the largest grossing event of the year for the city of almost 800,000 people.
What is more, SXSW also featured a secret concert by the unique band The Flaming Lips—who, as reported by API recently recorded a song revolving around the Apple iPhone’s Siri application—in 2006 which was named as one of the “top 10 music festival moments” of all time by Time magazine in 2010.
Alcons Audio is marking its inaugural year in the United States after opening a US office in June 2011 by launching its “Pro Ribbon Experience” tour at this year’s festival.
