Local co-op, bonus missions and custom units for StreetPass? Yes please.

Fire Emblem Awakening for Nintendo 3DS is shaping up to be quite an interesting entry in the well-established franchise. Thanks to a report from Andriasang, we’ve learned of a number of features in the title that take advantage of the 3DS’ wireless capabilities.

Firstly there will be local co-op battles, in which each player selects a team of three combatants. Possibly of more worthy note however, is the implementation of StreetPass. Players can create their own custom units, and share them with others. These custom units can then join a player’s army, bolstering their forces with unique characters.

In addition, Nintendo have plans to release bonus side-missions via SpotPass, which will help extend the longevity of such a strategy game.
