The Festival will bring together Covington County’s greatest assets – its people, its land and its water in just the right balance to make this special day in May a perfect symbol of “Southpitality”, Southern hospitality at its finest.
 
In addition to the 5K run/walk and children’s fun run, there is expected to be more that 15,000 festival goers crowding the Main Street in Collins to enjoy the celebration.
 
The music, food, activities and lifestyle of Covington County awaits you and your family at the Okatoma Festival on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

General Information

5K Run/ Walk - A Mississippi Track Club Event

Okatoma Festival’s thirteenth annual 5K Run/Walk and children’s 1 Mile Fun Run will begin and end beside the Presbyterian Church in downtown Collins, MS.  
Time: 8:00a.m.
 
The course has several gentle rolling hills as it winds through the residential areas and city  park in Collins.  Splits will be called at 1 and 2 miles.  Water stations will be at the finish line and around half way.

COVINGTON COUNTY MISS HOSPITALITY PROGRAM

July 29-30, 2012

Crowning and Reception at 10:00 a.m.

REQUIREMENTS FOR LOCAL PROGRAM

1. Be a resident of Mississippi – parent or guardian must also be a resident of Mississippi

2. Represent her hometown and/or county, not the city where she attends college.

3. Not currently hold a title that would interfere with duties of Miss Hospitality.
 
4. Be a high school graduate, never married, have no children and be age 18 and not over 24 by Wednesday, July 25, 2012 of the pageant week. 
 
5. Have a 2.5 scholastic average for the last completed semester.  A transcript is required upon registration for the state pageant.

6. Must be present at the coronation ceremony for Mississippi Miss Hospitality and participate in events scheduled for the period July 22- July 28, 2012.
 
7. If attending an out of state university and wins the state pageant, you must enroll immediately in a university in Mississippi.

8. Participate in the Okatoma Festival on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

9.  ENTRY FEE:  $20.00 

Local Miss Hospitality contestants will have:
7 minute personal interview with a panel of three out-of-town judges present a 90-second speech in front of the judges and guests on the topic below:

SPEECH TOPIC
“How would you promote our state to a visitor of Mississippi?”

Appropriate dress:  Sunday dress or suit

DEADLINE:  Contestant application and entry fee must be turned in to the chamber office by Friday, March 23, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Contestants are to meet on Friday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m. at the chamber office to have a group  picture for the newspaper and draw for interview times.                            

THE STATE MISS HOSPITALITY PAGEANT WILL BE HELD July 29-30, 2012.

Applications are available at the Chamber of Commerce office located at 500 Komo Street in Collins.
