The Bottom Line
I love this series. While the story line is a little basic - boy meets girl, boy saves girl - the characters are believable and the addition of the variety of CLAMP characters still to come certainly doesn't hurt. The DVD also follows the trend set by Volume 1 and leaves you with some pretty decent dilemmas to make you want to tune in for Volume 3.
Pros
- Created by CLAMP (and who doesn't love CLAMP?)
- A fun combination of other CLAMP characters (Sakura, Chobits, etc.)
- 5 episodes on the DVD
- Decent DVD extras
Cons
- A little slow in presenting new characters
Description
- Based on the original manga from Del Rey
- Rated TV-PG
- Genres: Romance, supernatural, adventure, drama, fantasy
Guide Review - Tsubasa Volume 2 - Anime Review
Syaoran ventures to Nayutaya with Kurogane and Fai in search of Sakura's feathers. There they meet a young girl, Chunyan who has lost her mother during a rescue mission to free the villagers from the evil wizard that controls their world. Chunyan wants to avenge her mother's death and thinks that Syaoran and company are part of the Meittishou, an underground group that deals with power-hungry rulers.
Wanting to help, the group must convince the oppressed villagers to rise up and overthrow the wizard.
Like the first DVD, Volume 2 takes its time in bringing you to the climax of the show and then right before you get there, oops! You'll have to tune into Volume 3. But in this series, that's perfectly okay.
While I'm still waiting to see the rest of the CLAMP crossover characters, this volume does give us another visit from Sorata and Arashi (X) and a brief appearance from Yuko (XXXholic). And, unlike the storyline in CSS, Syaoran and Sakura know they're on the brink of something special. Well, he does at least. She's forgotten of course, because she's lost all her memories.
But then, what's a good love story without a little conflict?
