CAVEAT : Included are factory woven carpets as well as traditional. Only a separate international commercial and customs codification associated with hand-made carpets allows for statistical gathering concerning craftsmanship, and a comparison among regional, national, and international numbers.
In 1997 world-wide importations of blankets and kilims were on the order of US$ 2 billion.
