LAS VEGAS – Sony debuted its newest PlayStation Vita shooter, Unit 13, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012). Shipping on March 6, the game offers 36 missions playable in single player or co-op, along with dynamic versions of those missions; plus nine HVT missions to unlock and share via near; six different operatives; 10 levels per operative that unlock new abilities, weapons and equipment; plus the daily challenge missions and leaderboards for all 36 single player and co-op missions. LAS VEGAS – Last year, NVIDIA made a big splash at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with its Tegra 2 technology. This year, the chip maker has Tegra 3 chips in hot new tablet devices, including the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime – one of a growing number of convertible devices that were shown through CES 2012. NVIDIA and Asus show off a new $250 Tegra 3 tablet during the NVIDIA press conference in the video below.

Getting back from CES, I expected my return to normalcy to be a little easygoing.  But then I hit this link over on one of my favorite sites and got introduced to the latest project from Stern Pinball -- a table based on the band AC/DC.  And, yep, next thing I knew, I was blaring "Back In Black" on my iTunes and wondering if this could be a possible revival in good old-fashioned rock n' roll pinball revival.

Videogames have come a long way since 1982. That was the year the original Choplifter debuted on the Apple II computer before taking off at arcades and other platforms. Although there have been sequels, as well as a previous remake attempt, nothing has worked as well, or captured the true spirit of the original, as this new downloadable game from developer inXile Entertainment and co-publisher Konami for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

LAS VEGAS – Sony had a larger than usual gaming arcade at its massive booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) this year. One of the big games showcased across PlayStation 3 and PS Vita was MLB 12 The Show, which hits stores on March 6, 2012, just in time for MLB Spring Training.  MLB 12 has been and continues to be the market leading and highest ranked officially licensed baseball title of this console generation (according to MetaCritic.com) and the number-one rated sports video game over the past four years (according to GameRankings.com), delivering true-to-life gameplay, authentic franchise and season modes, and incredible detail not found in any other sports game.  The new game builds on what has been delivered in previous franchise releases, adding compelling features that bring unparalleled innovation and polish to the sports genre. The cloud gaming folks at OnLive may not have a booth on the show floor, but it's certainly leaving its mark at the Consumer Electronics Show.  It has announced a partnership not only with Google TV, but also with Razer, in an attempt to bring its gaming services to more devices, other than the PC, MicroConsole and, most recently, iOS and Android devices.

Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden III is just about ready to make a killing this spring, with Ryu Hayabusa returning to do what he does best -- slice bad guys into sashimi.  To commemorate the upcoming game, Tecmo Koei has announced that it will be making a special collector's edition being offered exclusively through Gamestop, jam-packed with fresh ninja goodness...and a Dead Or Alive surprise.

LAS VEGAS -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has officially put the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) into the record books as the largest in the show's 44 year history, with 1.861 million net square feet of exhibit space. The previous record was 1.857 million net square feet of space at the 2008 International CES. Owned and produced by CEA, CES 2012, the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology, runs January 10 through January 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And you thought 2011 was the year of the sequel.  Well, get ready for another round, because 2012 is already going to bring several new entries in familiar series, including Transformers, Spider-Man, Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed.  And now, thanks to the UK retailer GAME, it looks like two more are on the way from Electronic Arts.

For those of you who just can't get into console gaming and could care less about owning a handheld system, there is an alternative solution -- your computer.  And no, we don't mean buying games that would run on your hardware.  We mean ones that are actually built into a browser or, better yet, a website.  And it seems like Facebook is getting stronger than ever when it comes to demonstrating this business tactic.

2K Sports sent Major League Baseball 2K12 cover athlete and reigning American League Most Valuable Player and Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander to “Conan” to announce the evolution of the hugely popular $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge. The Detroit Tigers pitcher explained that this year’s contest, which returns for the third consecutive year, will stage a final eight-person live tournament to crown the new $1 Million champion. LAS VEGAS -- Major product launches from more than 3,100 exhibitors and keynotes from the leaders of Qualcomm, Mercedes and Intel launched the 2012 International CES on Tuesday. Owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), CES 2012, the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology, runs through Friday, January 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gaming was also prevalent with Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all showing content. NVIDIA continues to push portable gaming and tablet pricing with Tegra as seen in the video below.
