While Nintendo remains a formidable force in the game industry, the company has seen better days, recently posting a net loss in its business and trying to figure out its next move with the Wii U, and whether a renaming of the system is necessary or not.  That said, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata remained confident in the future of the company business, and (finally) introduced a dedicated gaming network coming soon from the company, one that should offer simplicity to those picking up a Nintendo 3DS or, later this year, a Wii U.

Know what pains me in this industry?  When a truly magnificent game goes unnoticed due to a lack of an ad campaign or a "push", if you will.  That's how I feel about Rayman Origins, which I consider one of the best games of 2011.  Unfortunately, it's barely cleared 50,000 units sold, showing signs that the project is a failure.  No, it's not.  It's a tremendously fun game that shouldn't be missed by anyone -- even if you're not crazy about platformers.  Thankfully, Ubi appears to be giving it another shot, this time on the PlayStation Vita, just in time for its launch.

Another week is upon us and another batch of new content has arrived on Xbox Live. If you were a fan of Rockstar's L.A Noire. Then you will happy to see that all the DLC for the game is at a low price. If you were holding out on getting the DLC for the game then now is your chance. As personal recomendation, I would get the Nicholson Electroplating case and skip out on Reefer Madness.

Remember the old days when SNK was trying to compete with the Game Boy and Game Gear with its own handheld system?  Yep, the Neo Geo Pocket, followed by the Neo Geo Pocket Color.  While the line-up was hardly anything you'd call stellar, there were a few gems in there, including SNK Vs. Capcom and the Metal Slug Mission games.  Now it looks like SNK is yearning to go back into portable territory, this time with a new handheld system featurning various classics.

When UTV Ignition introduced Quarrel to the App Store a few months back, it brought a successful -- and somewhat addictive -- mix of Risk and Scrabble, with folks putting together words in a limited amount of time and dominating pieces of a map to eventually overcome their opponent.  Pleased with how the game turned out, they then opted to introduce it to a different market, this time on Xbox Live Marketplace.  And the war of words continues to play out as expected, despite some hitches.

While Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in Hollywood making millions of dollars on new movies, he’s left a debt to the people of California. The state of California agreed to reimburse the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) $950,000 for legal fees incurred from the trade association’s recent U.S. Supreme Court victory, ESA announced today. The U.S. Supreme Court case was the latest result of then-Governor Schwarzenegger and State Senator Leland Yee’s (D-San Francisco) ill-fated attempt to impose clearly unconstitutional regulations on video games. ESA announced it would donate a portion of the proceeds to develop after-school educational programs for underserved communities in Oakland and Sacramento.

It's inevitable.  The game industry likes to thrive with new technology, whether it's a new handheld like the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, or a new hardware system that introduces an innovative new way to play.  With the Wii U ramping up for release this year, both Microsoft and Sony are thinking hard about their next systems, and today we've run across rumors of what the big "M" will have in mind for its hardware.  Our only concern is that they might be rushing things...

Last week, Darksiders II was demoed at the Regency Center in San Francisco. The demo showed off what the newest features were, while providing us an awesome taste of the product. Sadly however, I couldn’t get my hands on with the game, but never or less it was an impressive showing. After the demo, I got to talk with the lead designer of the game, Haydn Dalton of Vigil Games and got some insider info on the upcoming sequel.

Know what we don't see too much of anymore?  2-D platformers.  Granted, we did just get Rayman Origins last year, which is absolutely fantastic (and $20 at Toys R' Us if you somehow missed out), but we mean like the classic platformer, the kind where you could go about your journey, collecting stuff and beating enemies with combos.  Well, Square Enix and TikGames have brought that feeling back with ScaryGirl, and while it's got its problems, it's still a haunting good time.

When Darksiders came out from THQ a couple of years back, it introduced the video game realm to Vigil Studios, a team headed up by creative director (and comic book artist) Joe Madureira.  It also left quite an impact on action gamers, one that was right up there with the God of War games.  Now the team is back at work on the highly anticipated sequel, and this time around, a different horseman is stepping up on a quest of his own.
