  • And now, for something completely different…

Over the past few months, our good friend Adrienne Chalaturnyk has been writing articles for us. Well, it’s time for Adrienne’s name to be moved up from the contributor list to the staff list. Welcome Adrienne! We’re super excited to have her on board as our Lead Art Journalist. As a result, Steve’s title (formerly ‘Lead Journalist’) gets an Extreme Makeover Home Edition (Lead Music Journalist). Just like his face, with that glorious moustache.

Adrienne is also the creator of the amazing RACCOON MAN.

  • Brooklyn Babylon

This is super cool! Canadian born, Brooklyn based musician Darcy James Argue collaborates with Croatian born, Brooklyn based illustrator Danijel Zezelj on a massive multimedia project. Live painting and projected animations accompany and are accompanied (neither is the focus - the goal is a true multimedia experience) by an hour-long piece of music performed by Argue’s big band, Secret Society. Read the New York Times article here - Argue’s band is one of the coolest, most accessible jazz groups around, and Zezelj is a wicked illustrator, having done work for both DC and Marvel, to name a couple…

  • Yeah, we’re pretty great (see 1:20).

    IN OTHER NEWS,

our September issue is out, which features a boatload of great music and art! Get a PDF from the Media page!

  • WOW!

A HUGE thanks to everyone who came out to our Anniversary Party on Saturday night! Thanks as well to all the musicians and artists! The music was incredible - a diverse, eclectic selection of music that fit perfectly together and definitely made the party a night to remember! The visual art was amazing and really complemented everything else going on. Be sure to keep up with these artists, they are definitely on the rise towards great things. I’m very excited that SC is expanding into the visual art scenes - musicians and artists should be working together more often! And of course, a big thanks to one of our all time favourite venues, the Tranzac, for having us there!

We raised over $300 which will go towards printing costs, as well as other costs related to the magazine - web space, promotional materials, etc. Because of all of you generous, dedicated folks, we will be able to continue do what we do, as well as continue expanding.

Our August issue is now in the works and we’re very excited about it! It will feature brilliant illustrations by Andrew Foerster on the cover, and will be jam packed with amazing music and art.

Check out the Facebook page for pictures from the event. You can also find an audio clip of Colin Fisher and Mark Hundevad’s brilliant performance at Mechanical Forest Sound. Check it out!
