President Nursultan Nazarbayev Meets Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao

Following the official ceremony, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chinese President Hu Jintao held a bilateral meeting in the expanded format. The sides discussed the issues on further development and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

“Distinguished Mister President, on behalf of the Government and the people of China let me heartily greet you in our country. You are our first foreign leader who paid a visit to China in the current year. I deeply believe your visit will inject vitality to the growth of our bilateral ties, and boost our strategic partnership to a new level. You are the most significant guest for us. I am delighted to share opinions with you on the issues on bilateral cooperation as well as on regional and international issues,” Chinese President Hu Jintao stressed.

“Distinguished Mister Chairman, I would like to sincerely thank you for the hospitality, friendly relations and warm reception given to our delegation. It has become a tradition and we value our relations. We signed an Agreement on strategic partnership between our countries. Trust and friendship between us personally and between our peoples strengthen year by year. Kazakhstan and China adhere to mutual views concerning the international policy. We also strictly follow the One-China policy. It is our strategic position,” Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted.

A number of agreements were signed within the framework of the visit. Among them are the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Protection of Trans-Border Rivers, the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People’s Republic of China on Transfer of Condemned Persons, the Memorandum on Cooperation in the Sphere of Construction of the Astana-Almaty High-Speed Railway Line between the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company, JSC and the Ministry of Railways of the People’s Republic of China, a US$ 1.660 billion Loan Agreement between the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, JSC and the State Development Bank of China, the Loan Agreement between the Kazakhstan Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China for the KPI Project, the Agreement on Principles of Cooperation on Urikhtau Project between the Kazmunaigas National Company, JSC and the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between the Kazfosfat, LLP and the SinoChem Group Chinese Chemical Corporation, the Memorandum on Mutual Understanding on Participation in the Industrial Investment Fund between the Kazatomprom National Atomic Company, JSC and the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC).

The state visit of President Nazarbayev to the People’s Republic of China has become a success and breakthrough in every respect. First of all it concerns the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Protection of Trans-Border Rivers as well as the breakthrough economic cooperation in the sphere of industrial and innovative development.
