Yes, I even purchased WWE Crush Hour and WWF Betrayal. I’ve seen the Smackdown series evolve from being a Playstation exclusive to being multi-console. So, when THQ announced WWE ’12, it was just like any other year--except Bigger, Badder and Better. On to our WWE '12 review!

THQ has pulled out all the stops this year--nabbing the likes of Brock Lesnar and Batista for the title. Today, THQ announced that the hardcore legend Mick Foley will be available as future DLC for WWE '12.

The new WWE title promises a bigger game, badder presentation and better simulation-based gameplay. THQ is making one of the big games of 2011 even bigger. The company's pre-order program for WWE '12 focuses on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Often touted as “the most electrifying man in all of entertainment,” legendary WWE Superstar The Rock will be available as a playable character for consumers who pre-order the game at any participating retailer within the United States or Canada for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or PlayStation3 computer entertainment system (while supplies last).  The Rock’s in-game character will resemble his current-day appearance, including a shaved head and new tattoos.

Despite a recent string of down months in U.S. video game sales at retail this year, a new report from research firm Gartner paints a very rosy picture for the global video game industry. When adding in revenues from burgeoning online, mobile and digital gaming sectors, Gartner estimates that worldwide spending on the gaming ecosystem will exceed $74 billion in 2011, up 10.4 percent from the $67 billion spent last year. By 2015, spending is expected to reach $112 billion.
