Apparently some of the marketing folks behind some of these Kinect games have it all wrong.  They’re trying to implement motion controls in all the right ways, but as a result, they’re sacrificing the main ingredient that’s supposed to be selling these products in the first place – fun.  Some of these games simply aren’t that fun.  Find a person who made the unfortunate mistake of picking up a retail copy of Hole In the Wall and ask them if they’re having fun trying to stand in place of fast-moving silhouettes.

Consoles and PC's have had a slow month interms of new AAA quality games arriving for your respected platform. While January got off to a slow start, it quickly recovered to bring us high quality tittles through digital distribution. Plenty of great downloadable arcade tittles were made available through XBLA, PSN and Steam, giving us many hidden gems on the digital marketplace. Let's look back at the games we reviewed over the past month.

Well over a year after its release on the market, the Kinect motion device is really growing into its own for Xbox 360 users, not only with a few family-related efforts (Kinect Sports, Dance Central) but also a decent amount of games dedicated to the "hardcore" crowd (Child of Eden, Rise of Nightmares).  But there's not too much of a market for downloadable Kinect games as of yet, though Fruit Ninja Kinect is doing fairly well.  Maybe that'll change once people see how good the haunted house adventure game Haunt is.  Maybe.

Another week is upon us and another batch of new content has arrived on Xbox Live. If you were a fan of Rockstar's L.A Noire. Then you will happy to see that all the DLC for the game is at a low price. If you were holding out on getting the DLC for the game then now is your chance. As personal recomendation, I would get the Nicholson Electroplating case and skip out on Reefer Madness.

When UTV Ignition introduced Quarrel to the App Store a few months back, it brought a successful -- and somewhat addictive -- mix of Risk and Scrabble, with folks putting together words in a limited amount of time and dominating pieces of a map to eventually overcome their opponent.  Pleased with how the game turned out, they then opted to introduce it to a different market, this time on Xbox Live Marketplace.  And the war of words continues to play out as expected, despite some hitches.

It's inevitable.  The game industry likes to thrive with new technology, whether it's a new handheld like the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, or a new hardware system that introduces an innovative new way to play.  With the Wii U ramping up for release this year, both Microsoft and Sony are thinking hard about their next systems, and today we've run across rumors of what the big "M" will have in mind for its hardware.  Our only concern is that they might be rushing things...

The first chapter of the Star Wars Saga arrives in theatres for the first time ever in 3D starting February 10, and AMC theatres across the country are celebrating the occasion with plans to make opening weekend one for fans and families to remember. As part of the festivities, the new LucasArts and Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360 3D Star Wars game will be playable.

At the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month, Microsoft revealed the four titles that are coming to this year's House Party line-up, and even gave us the opportunity to go hands-on with them at their booth.  Now, the company has officially given details as to when the games will be available, and how many Microsoft points they'll be going for.  And as a bonus, it's throwing in an incentive to those people who purchase all four games...

Shmups -- or shoot-em-ups as they're better known by -- have come back to the surface as of late, between downloadable releases on consoles (Radiant Silvergun, for instance) and a thriving iPad market filled with returning favorites and new releases.  Among the bigger ones of 2012 is Sine Mora, the latest from Suda 51's Grasshopper Manufacture studio, which is being published by Microsoft Studios this year.

For its final appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (for the forseeable future, anyway), Microsoft is really going all out with its exhibit, showing off a number of mobile and Xbox 360 games, as well as forthcoming technology.  Among this technology is plenty of stuff for Kinect, including various stations where users can get into their gaming experiences.  And one example of this that stands out is Kinect Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure.

Microsoft is front and center at this year's Consumer Electronics Show -- mainly because it's bidding adieu next year -- but it's definitely bringing the goods between its Windows stuff and the Xbox 360.  Among the 360 offerings are plenty of Kinect games, including Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports Season 2.  But perhaps the one that's gaining the most interest in the oft-delayed Kinect Star Wars, mainly because Microsoft introduced a new component for the game at the show -- 3D.
