High-school seniors in CSHL’s “Partners for the Future” program get a taste of the real world of biomedical research. Elementary and middle school students perform hands-on experiments in our DNA Learning Centers.
URP, 10-week summer program for undergraduates provides one of the few places where young people are instructed in the techniques of modern biology while becoming members of a vibrant scientific community.
CSHL offers doctoral programs thorough our own, highly innovative Watson School of Biological Sciences and a collaborative initiative with the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
The CSHL Fellows program enables outstanding young scientists to pursue independent research before taking a faculty position. Other initiatives support scientists at all levels.

CSHL educational programs introduce students to the newest ideas, discoveries and technologies in biology and life sciences, and allow them to work alongside some of the most innovative scientists in the world in an open, collaborative environment. The Laboratory offered its first course, in biology, more than a century ago, in 1890. Since that time our role as an educational institution has been continuous and filled with growth and expansion. Today we offer programs for children, teachers, college, high school and graduate students, as well as established scientists.
