I agree with th3warr1or. AC2 was stunning. The amount of story and thought put into it was brilliant. Brotherhood was a good end to the AC2 story but by itself it already lacked a lot of the subtle, lengthy plots that AC2 had. Revelations was at best meh in the story department when compared to AC2. Far less characters and frankly the plot was predictable which was quite saddening. Hoping AC3 really tops it off and brings the series to the top again.

It's not quite the fact that people think the game only takes 1year. If they could accomplish this much with 1year, they could make a game twice as good if they released it after 2. The problem when they milk it is that they're just reaching to make a "good" game rather than an amazing game. Assassin's Creed 2 was amazing.

Milking or not, they do in fact make exceptional games in a very little time so i think they do deserve my full respect, also i quite liked Revelations OST, it brought some kind of epicness to the world and it fit very well with that whole concept of ending an era for our beloved assassins Altair and Ezio. Looking forward to the new instalment. Haters gonna hate. :p

http://www.industrygamers.com/news/assassins-creed-take-a-lot-longer-than-one-year-says-ubisoft/ There's the problem right there: it's become a "blueprint franchise" even with all the man-hours put into it.

Tracks are very good in the game ambient. For instance, "On the Attack", kind of oriental and electronic mix is great in-game, much better than standalone, in my opinion. Yerebatan Cistern also a better feeling in game context and so on. Peaceful, ambiental and beautiful tracks: Welcome to Konstantiniyye, The Crossroads of the World, Byzantium, Nova Roma, Istanbul... Action tracks are OK too - The Wounded Eagle (it's great), Greek Fire. Galata Tower... Now Balfe - AC theme is really good, but again, not fitting to this universe. Scheduled for Deletion, Unsubtle Approach, great and short, as they should be, but almost everything else is a variation of AC theme which ruins the feel for me. His tunes for Multiplayer are so generic, not worth a mention really. If an AC game was to be released every 2 years, OSTs would also profit, but this way I guess it's still good (could be better of course) from Kyd, but Balfe dissapointed. BTW, new AC game is already confirmed for 2012.... Jesus

I still prefer his works for Assassin's Creed II.... Brotherhood OST was not bad at all, but I think it was a step back, and Revelations... well, he could have done better (if Ubisoft people had let him ENOUGH TIME), and linking him with that "Zimmerish" and COD style, I think that doesn't help Jesper's unique style. (Take note, I love Zimmer's music, I really like lots and lots of his albums, and I also find Balfe's good too, but mr. Kyd's talent and style loose a lot of identity in this soundtrack...). Assassin's Creed II OST and Hitman: Blood Money OST still win, in my opinion. I hope Jesper manages to surpass their greatness someday. Please, Ubi, let both the fans and Jesper Kyd some rest before the next Assassin's Creed comes out, two years, three... what was normal years ago. I think this fever for releasing a game each year doesn't help anybody.

Agreed about Blood Money. That's what the first two Assassin's Creed and all 4 Hitman games had going for them: a really unique identity. This reflects well in the music. I felt like BM in particular was a great evolution in terms of both gameplay and music. Kyd took the purely instrumental sound from Silent Assassin, combined it with the electronics from Contracts and the result was a very slick hybrid.

I have yet to play the others games in the Assassin's Creed series, but I wouldn't be surprised if what noob_foo said was right. Good things generally become bad when they are done as much as possible for the sake of building a great franchise with annual releases. I did, however, play the first Assassin's Creed, and I can say that, if it wasn't for the soundtrack, I'd have given up earlier. That being said, Hitman: Blood Money is one of my favourite games of all time, and its soundtrack surely helps making it the wonderful game it is. It is one of the few game to whose soundtrack I frequently listen, so enjoyable it is.

To be fair, I have not yet played the game itself so I might as well give the soundtrack the benefit of the doubt on the grounds that soundtracks aren't really meant to be listened separately, it's just nice when you can. But it does seem like as the games get shittier, so do the soundtracks.

Seems to me like the Call of Duty-inspired annual factory grind of AC games has finally taken its toll on the soundtrack quality as well. Having listened to the Revelations one, I can't help at feel that Kyd is just contractually obligated to churn out music for each game, but - if the addition of Lorne Balfe is any indication - he doesn't have a sufficient amount of time to produce a great score. I felt they were already going down the generic road with the Brotherhood score and it hasn't really improved with this installment. There are a few nice tracks, but overall, it sounds much lazier. It's like after the mixed reviews for AC1 came in the people at Ubisoft realized they have a potential blockbuster IP on their hands and everyone brought their a-game to realize that potential with AC2, Kyd included, but now they've just gone for a formulaic and uninspired approach.
