We've seen countless video games based on the Aliens franchise over the years, both for arcade and for home, and while they may have been exciting, they're hardly the sort of thing that we'd call in-depth.  In fact, the closest we could come to feeling like we were in a true Aliens experience comes down to two games -- the 1990 Konami arcade game and last year's Nintendo DS release Aliens: Infestation.  But that'll change this fall when Gearbox, the studio behind Borderlands, will team up with Sega for Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game that really dials in the feeling of the 1986 James Cameron cinematic classic.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NY Giants beat the New England Patriots again 27-24 again in a squeaker according to the Madden NFL 12 video game from EA Sports based on its virtual simulation of Super Bowl XLVI on Madden. Madden NFL 12 is the de facto, and only, football video game for the NFL season.  Fans have been playing like crazy for the past few months, wondering where the season was going to end up. This Sunday it culminates in a match-up that will pit Brady, going for his fourth Super Bowl ring, along with his favorite target Gronkowski against Eli Manning and his Giants, in the Circle City of Indianapolis. Check out highlights of the Madden simulated Super Bowl game.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Circle City isn't just home to Super Bowl XLVI this year, it's also home to Madden Bowl XVIII and the next best thing to winning the Super Bowl for NFL players is to win the Madden Bowl. Jacksonville Jaguars' running back Maurice Jones-Drew knows a thing or two about the Madden Bowl, having won Madden Bowl XVI in Miami a couple of years ago. He's gone on to add the NFL rushing title to his trophy case with 1,606 rushing yards this year. His competitive fire also bleeds through to fantasy football where he is an avid fantasy football player and also hosts his own radio show on XM Sirius titled Runnin' with MJD just talking about fantasy football talk and strategy. This guys loves football no matter if its for real, virtual or fantasy. We caught up with Jones-Drew on the EA Sports' Blue Carpet at the Bud Light Hotel in downtown Indianapolis where Jones-Drew talks about how he's got the bragging rights as the best Madden NFL football player in the NFL. Check it out in this exclusive video interview.

INDIANAPOLIS -- With Super Bowl XLVI just a day away, NFL players and celebrities have descended on the Circle City, Indianapolis, to get their taste of Hoosier Hospitality. EA Sports and Bud Light spared no expense in inviting celebrities to their block tent party just behind the Bud Light Hotel in downtown Indianapolis at Madden Bowl XVII. San Diego Charger tight end Antonio Gates Bud Light Blue Carpet to talk about Madden Bowl XVIII as well as Madden NFL 12 and what video games he played back in the day in this exclusive video interview.

This year, Madden Bowl XVIII was held at the renamed Bud Light Hotel in downtown Indianapolis where hundreds of NFL past and current players as well as celebrities such as Snoop Dog and Nas showed up to check out the latest EA Sports' football game Madden NFL 12. Apparently some of the marketing folks behind some of these Kinect games have it all wrong.  They’re trying to implement motion controls in all the right ways, but as a result, they’re sacrificing the main ingredient that’s supposed to be selling these products in the first place – fun.  Some of these games simply aren’t that fun.  Find a person who made the unfortunate mistake of picking up a retail copy of Hole In the Wall and ask them if they’re having fun trying to stand in place of fast-moving silhouettes.

Someone tell me -- why is Virtua Tennis so addictive?  Is it the simplistic gameplay that actually makes tennis fun instead of a chore?  (You guys at Top Spin listening?)  Is it the beautiful visuals?  Maybe it's the mini-games where you get to sink plastic pirate ships with tennis balls?  Or maybe it's a combination of all these things.  Sega easily realizes this, which explains why they're bringing the series to the portable front with the release of Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour on PlayStation Vita later this month.  Just when we were starting to get productive in the office again...

INDIANAPOLIS -- Who needs real football when Madden NFL 12 can deliver a Super Thursday experience with real NFL pros behind the controls. Just when you thought the late fourth quarter dramatics had ended, a virtual version of Tebow Time crashed the EA Sports Madden Bowl XVIII party held at the Bud Light Hotel Thursday in Indianapolis.

When it released for consoles late last year, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 marked some notable improvements over the original, including better fighting balance, extra modes (Galactus!) and the inclusion of some great new characters, such as Phoenix Wright (doesn't even fight, just shuffles papers and unleashes the ULTIMATE SECRETARY) and Ghost Rider.  Those who may have missed out on it, though, will have another chance to check it out, this time on the portable front, as UMVC 3 is set to arrive this month for PlayStation Vita.

Is there anything that PopCap Games creates that ISN'T addicting?  Seriously.  We must've sat around for hours on end playing the holy hell out of Bejeweled 3 and mastering every bounce we possibly could out of Peggle.  But that's not enough, is it?  No, we have to unleash a full-scale war between plant life and the undead with the incredible strategy game Plants vs. Zombies.  Damn you, PopCap, I had stuff to do today!  But anyway, if you're not drawn in enough with the versions that are out there, they're releasing one that you can take anywhere with you on your PS Vita later this month.

Consoles and PC's have had a slow month interms of new AAA quality games arriving for your respected platform. While January got off to a slow start, it quickly recovered to bring us high quality tittles through digital distribution. Plenty of great downloadable arcade tittles were made available through XBLA, PSN and Steam, giving us many hidden gems on the digital marketplace. Let's look back at the games we reviewed over the past month.

It's a novel idea that's really catching on in the App Store -- re-releasing old-school arcade games as part of a collection, then offering potential buyers the option to choose what games they want to keep.  Capcom's done it, Atari has done it, and Farsight is working on it with its Pinball Arcade (which we previewed).  But we're surprised that Namco has taken so long to warm up to the idea, especially with its countless Museum releases.  Well, it finally came through with Namco Arcade, a game that has the "try before you buy" method with a few of its offerings.  So why does it feel like it wasn't fully thought out?

When you think "Batman" and "video game", you usually think of something dark, foreboding and completely involving, like last year's stellar release of Batman: Arkham City.  But you don't really think shooter, nor anything that goes tongue firmly in cheek, do you?  That's why it's so fascinating to see Monolith, the developers behind the F.E.A.R. series, go against type and create a game like Gotham City Impostors.  Not only is it something you'd never expect from the DC Comics Universe, but, holy rusted metal Batman, it's actually fun.

Every Tuesday, Sony brings its PlayStation faithful new content, add-ons for your favorite games, Themes and avatars for your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. Again another standard week of PSN goods you can get, but for the most part the main draw are going to be demos. Twisted Metal is finally going to hit store shelves and the fans of  the series will be eager to get their hands on the multiplayer demo now available.
