Cell phone fascias, or mobile phone fascias, are becoming increasing popular. But a lot of people have no idea what this term means. The technical term for fascia worms its way in and out of terminology that would baffle most people. But quite simply, we are talking about our mobile phones housing. Mobile phone fascias are a fashion accessory that can turn your factory default looking phone, in to something completely unique.   

And we aren’t talking about the silicone covers, faceplates, or placing stickers over the entire surface of our phone. We are talking about completely removing the pieces inside our phone and putting it in to a new home. When buying a new fascia you will usually get new buttons and all. There will be many pieces to the kit. 

Most manufacturers can produce different colors of mobile phone fascias, and some do offer a select few to choose from. Blackberry and Nokia are two manufacturers who do this. They will have the exact some model of phone, but in a different color for you to choose from. However, these standard options are pretty lame to most people. They are usually solid colors in the standard range of pink, black, white, brown, purple, and orange. 

The good news for you and I is that there are 3rd party companies who make  mobile phone fascias. The bad news is that you will have to change the phone over to its new housing yourself. And by doing so, you’re going to void most mobile phone warranties.  

Unfortunately, as mobile phone technology advances with smaller and more complex phones, it is becoming increasingly difficult for these 3rd party companies to produce mobile phone fascias. Not only that, but most people aren’t brave enough to change their cell phone housing themselves, or don’t know of anyone who can do it for them. You can usually find video tutorials on YouTube to help out. 

If you are brave enough or have someone competent to change your mobile phone housing, you need to know that they are classified as unofficial accessories and are a bit difficult to find. You can go to a brand name outlet store to see if they have anything, but it will be slim pickings and of course a limited option. Your best bet is to search online. 

First, you will need to find the make and model number of your phone. Choosing the wrong number and model is going to leave you with phone pieces all over your table and nothing fitting together. So it is a good idea to double check several times to make sure you have it right. Auction sites will be your best bet. A lot of them will be coming from china, but what doesn’t come from china? Depending on what your looking for it may cost anywhere from $30 up to $200. Yes $200 seems extreme for housing but because a lot of the fancy ones are made in limited quantities, it is hard to get a hold of them at a cheap price. 

Another way you can find cell phone housing is on classified listings. Sometimes people will even provide the service to change your phone for you. Just make sure you know who you’re dealing with.
