News: New GBA Under Way

NOE have confirmed that the next version of the Game Boy is currently in development.

Managing director of NOE, David Gosen, has confirmed that the new Game Boy is already in development, quashing rumours that the DS may in fact be the successor to the GBA.

At the ELSPA games summit, Gosen said that "New Game Boy iterations are under review right now, before the first DS is sold."

It seems Nintendo's tactics are to use the GBA2 as a safety measure to combat the PSP - seeing how the public react to the PSP, then releasing the GBA2 once they know the situation.

One reason Nintendo may have released this little tidbit of information is that many are comparing the PSP to the DS, while Nintendo have always stuck to their statement that the DS is a third pillar, alongside the GBA and GameCube.

There is no other information regarding GBA2 at present, but we'll let you know as soon as there is.
