News: Nintendo Don't Know About Fatal Frame IV

Are you itching to get more news about a possible Western release for Fatal Frame IV? Maybe now would be the time to panic...

Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a joint project between Nintendo, Tecmo and Grasshopper Manufacture (and Suda51). The fourth installment in the Japanese horror franchise - known as Project Zero in Europe - sees three girls investigating a seemingly empty mansion which was instrumental to their kidnap and imprisonment during a mysterious event which took place there 10 years ago.

It was rumoured that a localised demo of Fatal Frame IV (which is due to be released in Japan next Thursday) would appear at E3, but sadly it never materialised. Worryingly, Nintendo of America aren't even aware of the product, according to GoNintendo. At least this explains why the title wasn't at E3, but what does this mean for the future of the series in the West?

With American and Europe proving profitable for Nintendo, i'm sure we'll see it released.

If Barbie's freaking Beach House and The Bratz have reached our shores... Surely this will too.

this is nintendos standard answer for any third party game that hasn't yet been licensed.

Nintendo funded and published the game, Tecmo and Grasshopper developed it. That's the worrying thing, it's technically a first-party game and Nintendo should know about it.

Isn't is possible that this has been taken a little out of context? From what I recall, wasn't it just a staff member of NoA who said they'd never heard of it?

Denise Kaigler, she's pretty high up in the NoA hierarchy.

Well even higher ups etc might not know exactly what is on the horizon etc. Ask Iwata to name all the Wii and DS games that are being planned and you likely won't get much of an answer. We are excited about this game but to people in the company, it's not as important as some of the other things going on. Heck I've been delayed at an airport and I told the flight crew why we had to wait because none of them knew... I was at a game retailer and tried to buy a Wii wheel one day and he told me that was a promotional thing and they wouldn't be selling them anymore. Yeah right. The world isn't going to come crashing down because the people you think should know things don't know... so calm down.

I may be tempted to purchase this, even though I did find the 2nd game very slow

have you seen the new trailer? There is also another trailer of Japanese people playing the game in a dark room. One is of an older man and the other is a teen age girl. They are funny.
