A delegation of 50 Hamiltonians were invited and warmly welcomed by the City of Shawinigan to celebrate its 100th Anniversary as a City. Highlights of the visit included a tree planting ceremony, a welcome picnic, official reception, tours of the city, and gift [1, 2] exchange. The delegates were billeted in homes, and many friendships were formed and continue to this day.

For some the visit was a time of reunion, of friendships which began during Hamilton’s sesquicentennial celebrations when approximately 100 citizens of Shawinigan were welcomed to Hamilton.
