Hi, is there ANY way we could maybe audition or be apart of the performance? Specifically singing?

Hi slashess. If you or others want to be part of a Distant Worlds performance, here are some possibilities.
Assuming you are an experienced performing singer with lots of music reading experience, once we announce a Distant Worlds performance in your area, contact us [ADD CONTACT]. We'll try to connect you with the director of the local choir that will be performing and ask that you be considered for a spot. Be prepared to provide CV and audio examples of your singing. No promises of course, but we are certainly open to this possibility.
Also, we have done a sing-a-long version of "One Winged Angel" as a part of the DWFF program in some cities. This includes the entire audience singing with Nobuo Uematsu and I leading the proceeding, and the lyrics projected onto the video screens for a fun and powerful live concert experience.

I can honestly state that in all of my years conducting video game music I have never encountered any negativity toward any of the Final Fantasy music by orchestra musicians or from any of my fellow conductors or music directors.

Great question, Anonymous. The preparation process for each Distant Worlds concert begins long before the actual performance. But once the bulk of the preproduction is done, the musical forces and soloists are determined and the program is set, we organize the orchestra performance parts and ship them to the orchestra. Generally, we get the music to the orchestra about a month before the concert. This allows the orchestra members the opportunity to practice the music before the rehearsals. Soloists and choirs receive their music from us even earlier.
Sometimes we have multiple Distant Worlds performances in a single venue/city; this necessitates a different rehearsal approach than if there is only one concert. For most individual concerts, working with top tier international orchestras, there are typically two rehearsals, totaling approximately six hours.
