BERLIN.— Both of Cuba’s “Dayrons” have classified
for the 110-m hurdles and three of its decathletes
are among the top eight halfway through the event.
These were the highlights of Cuba’s performance in
Wednesday’s events at the 12th World Championships
in Athletics.

classified for the World Championships in Italy next

BERLIN.— Cuba begins this Wednesday, August 19, in
8th place by medals (1-1-1) and by points (28), in
large part owing to its triple jump team’s
performance on Tuesday, particularly that of Alexis
Copello, who jumped from sixth place to third,
taking the bronze with a mark of 17.36 on his sixth
and last opportunity.

double historic victory in the women’s triple jump
after winning the gold and silver, respectively, in
the Berlin World Championships in Athletics.

Ruz yesterday presented the flag to the Cuban team
who will defend their national colors at the 2nd
World Baseball Classic. During the official
