"Opoona" Announced!

Mr. Sakimoto will be responsible for the music to the game "Opoona". The game is being developed by ArtePiazza, the development team responsible for several additions to the Dragon Quest series, and will be published by Koei for the Nintendo Wii. The game marks the first time Mr. Sakimoto has composed for the Wii console and is the second time he has worked with ArtePiazza (writing the background music for their official website in 2005). "Opoona" has yet to receive an official release date, but is expected to be available in Japan this summer.

Mr. Sakimoto to attend "A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition"

The Australian orchestra that specializes in performing Japanese video game and anime music has announced it will feature Mr. Hitoshi Sakimoto as one of it's guests of honor in their upcoming concert, "A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition". Mr. Sakimoto will be one of seven guests attending this year's major concert by Eminence. The other guests include Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, Kow Otani, Shiro Hamaguchi, Masaru Shiina and Junichi Nakatsuru. This will mark the second time Mr. Sakimoto has attended a concert by Eminence, attending "Passion" in December 2006. "A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition" will be held at Sydney Town Hall in Sydney (April 20th and April 21st) and Hamer Hall in Melbourne (April 27th). "Odin Sphere" Announced!

Vanillaware has recently confirmed that they will be in charge of "Odin Sphere", a game spiritually related to the 1997 Sega Saturn title, "Princess Crown". Mr. Sakimoto will be in charge of the music. He is also responsible for another Vanillaware title, "Grim; Grimoire" due for release on April 12th this year. "Odin Sphere" is set to be released on May 17th, published by Atlus. You can hear a new vocal piece from the game by visiting the official webpage.

Mr. Sakimoto to score "Deltora Quest"!

Mr. Hitoshi Sakimoto will be responsible for creating the score to the video game adaptation of Emily Rodda's popular children novel series, "Deltora Quest". The game is being developed by Audio and published by Bandai Namco, including artwork designed by Yocky and a scenario written by Kazushige Nojima, famous for his many Final Fantasy scenarios and storylines. "Deltora Quest" hasn't received a formal release date yet, but it is scheduled to be released in Spring in Japan.

"Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion's War" Announced!

Square Enix has officially announced their proposal to port the classic Final Fantasy Tactics, originally on PlayStation, to the PlayStation Portable. It will be re-titled "Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion's War" and will receive new features and upgrades, such as new character classes and new anime-style cut scenes. Mr. Hitoshi Sakimoto and Mr. Masaharu Iwata were responsible for creating the music in the original title, and it is not yet confirmed if the new port will have any new arrangements of classic themes. No release date has been scheduled for "Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion's War", but it will be available sometime within the new year.

Discography Page Updated!

The discography page was updated. Added was "Digimon Savers: Another Mission" which Mr. Hitoshi Sakimoto worked on, alongside Mr. Manabu Namiki and Mr. Masaharu Iwata. The game was released on November 30th of this year, developed and published by Bandai Namco.

Mr. Sakimoto to score game "Grim Grimoire"!

Mr. Sakimoto will be scoring the music to a new game, titled "Grim Grimoire", developed by Vanillaware and published by Nippon Ichi. The game is set around the character Lujei Piche, who will also appear in another related upcoming game ("Soul Cradle"), and is being directed by Seiya Kamiya. "Grim Grimoire", will be released on April 12th, 2007. Until then, please keep your eye on the official site for more details.

An official complete 2 disc soundtrack will be released with the limited edition print of the game.

Mr. Sakimoto to score anime "Romeo x Juliet"!

For the first time, Mr. Sakimoto will be scoring an entire anime. The title, called "Romeo x Juliet", is based off William Shakespeare's most famous romance tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet" with all music being handled by Mr. Sakimoto. The anime is being developed by the company Gonzo, who worked on the title "Kaleido Star~ Legend of the Phoenix ~ Layla Hamilton Story" that Mr. Sakimoto also contributed to (the ending theme). "Romeo x Juliet" is scheduled to air sometime in the New Year, though no details have been announced yet. Please keep your eye on the official homepage for emerging details.

"Selections from Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack" Released!

After a great initial release of the "Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack" earlier this year, US-based Japanese media specialist label Tofu Records has released a domestic version of the soundtrack, titled "Selections from Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack". The soundtrack, however, only contains 31 tracks from the 100 themes found on the 4 disc Original Soundtrack, and is compacted onto one disc. The domestic soundtrack was released on October 30th to correspond with the long-awaited US release of Final Fantasy XII. Mr. Sakimoto to attend "Passion" by Eminence!

Australian fans rejoice, Mr. Sakimoto will be attending the next concert by Eminence Symphony Orchestra called "Passion". The concert will be an instrumental ensemble with a variety of acoustic instruments, playing a variety of newly arranged game music and anime music tunes. It has also been confirmed that Mr. Yasunori Mitsuda will be joining him. "Passion" will be premiering in Melbourne and Sydney in December, performing in both cities for one day only. Mr. Sakimoto will appear only at Sydney and Mr. Mitsuda will be appearing at both venues. More details to come soon.

Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings Announced!

Only months after its initial release, Square Enix has announced a new addition to their latest hit, "Final Fantasy XII". Square Enix has not mentioned whether the game, titled "Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings", will take place after or before the events of "Final Fantasy XII", and generally very little is known about the story, gameplay or characters (Vaan and Ashe are confirmed to be included). It will be for the Nintendo DS and the game is being produced by "Final Fantasy XII" / SaGa series producer Akitoshi Kawazu, and created by largely the "Final Fantasy XIII" development team. No release date has been planned as of yet.

Mr. Sakimoto has been confirmed to be scoring the game, after successfully creating an epic and fitting musical soundtrack to Final Fantasy XII. He will be joined by Kenichiro Fukui from the Square Enix sound team, who worked on such titles as "Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children", "Einhander", "Front Mission 5", the upcoming "Project Sylpheed" and arranged the English version of Nobuo Uematsu and Angela Aki's "Kiss Me Good-Bye" for "Final Fantasy XII".

Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack Piano Score Announced!

Following tradition, popular sheet music publisher Doremi has announced the Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack Piano Score. The Piano Score will feature 50 pieces of Mr. Sakimoto's score to Final Fantasy XII (half of the actual musical score) specially arranged for piano, spanning 160 pages. The arranger hasn't been announced yet. Also included are a handful of Mr. Iwata and Mr. Matsuo's compositions. No release date has been announced yet, but it's expected to be released sometime before the end of the year.

Final Fantasy XII Premiering at "A Night in Fantasia"!

A couple of months ago, Eminence, an Australian based orchestra, announced that there would be another "A; Night in Fantasia" concert, a series that was born on 30th of October 2004 in Sydney, Australia, focusing on performing musical pieces from video games and Japanese anime. This year, they are back and they will be performing in both Melbourne and Sydney. Amongst the titles performed, including Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy series and renowned Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi's various anime works, will be a special world premier performance of "Symphonic Poem "Hope", which is the ending theme from Hitoshi Sakimoto's Final Fantasy XII original score. While not composed by Mr. Sakimoto, the theme, composed and arranged by violinist Taro Hakase and guitarist Yuji Toriyama, is based on the game's main theme (composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto). The event will take place on July 2nd in Melbourne (located in the Melbourne Town Hall) and on July 7th in Sydney (located in the Sydney Town Hall). Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack Released!

Today, the soundtrack to Hitoshi Sakimoto's largest work ever, Final Fantasy XII, has been released! Sakimoto worked alongside close friends Masaharu Iwata and Hayato Matsuo to produce this 4 disc set. From Basiscape, Kumiko Saeki, Kimihiro Abe and Miki Ito worked on the mastering of the soundtrack. The Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack is available to order at VGMWorld.com and is expected to ship in within the next few days.

Mr. Sakimoto to attend PLAY!

Mr. Sakimoto has been scheduled to appear at the Detroit concert of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony. While there, he will be joined by famous video game composer Yoko Shimomura (responsible for Legend of Mana, Kingdom Hearts, etc), where they will witness various game music tunes being performed by a live orchestra and choir, in front of a large audience. Final Fantasy XII in the works, "Radiant Silvergun +" re-release

Currently working on the music for the Final Fantasy XII Game. Soon to be released.

One of Mr. Sakimoto's best works from 1998 - the Radiant Silvergun + Soundtrack - will soon be re-released! Many of his fans have been longing to have this album re-released, and it has come true! Originally released in 1998, the album contains the original and arranged sounds from the Treasure-developed Sega Saturn game.
