Prince Of Persia creator Jordan Mechner is remaking his breakout hit, 1984 Apple II game Karateka, for Xbox Live Arcade and SEN. Speaking to VentureBeat, Mechner confirmed that the remake will be his first day-to-day development job since Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time. He has spent the interim writing for graphic novels, and wrote and directed 2003 documentary Chavez Ravine: A Los Angeles Story. More >
Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch, the PS3-exclusive Level 5 RPG, will not be released in Europe until the first quarter of 2013. Publisher Namco Bandai has confirmed that the game, a collaboration with revered Japanese anime company Studio Ghibli, will be released with a choice of Japanese or English audio, with subtitles in French, Italian, German and Spanish, according to Eurogamer. Japanese mobile gaming company Gree is opening an office in San Francisco. 1Epic Games has announced that it has secured the rights to the Fighting Fantasy series for its iOS development contest, Make Something Unreal. The deal means that the four teams selected to take part in Make Something Unreal Live, a game jam to be held at the Gadget Show Live 2012 in April, will be based on the beloved series of role-playing books created by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson, specifically The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain, The Citadel Of Chaos, Deathtrap Dungeon, and Armies Of Death. D3 Publisher has secured the licensing rights to three upcoming films from Dreamworks Animation, which were held by THQ until the troubled publisher announced its withdrawal from the licensed kids' game market. Unity Technologies has announced an agreement with LG that will see Unity-authored games playable on the South Korean company's range of Smart TVs. The deal, announced yesterday, will begin with LG's 2012 range of TVs. Tiny Tower, the iOS resource management sim developed by three-man indie studio Nimblebit, has been downloaded ten million times, the developer has announced. The milestone was revealed on Twitter by Nimblebit's Ian Marsh. "To celebrate Tiny Tower reaching 10 million iOS downloads," he writes, "we're giving away over 10 million Tower Bux to players." Microsoft's free-to-play reboot of the Flight Sim series, Microsoft Flight, is out of beta and will be released on February 29.
