18EA has confirmed that SSX, the upcoming reboot of its snowboarding series, will use the company's online pass. Rather than lock second-hand buyers out of the game's multiplayer component entirely, however, it prevents them from accruing the in-game currency used to unlock vanity items and additional events. 2At yesterday's EA conference at Gamescom in Cologne , much was made of SSX's social features, powered by Ridernet, its take on Need For Speed's Autolog. Ghosts can be saved, shared and downloaded, drop points can be shared using a recommendation engine, and pesky friends who keep beating your times can be down-voted and hidden. We're not sure it lives up to EA's billing of "revolutionising social competition," but we'll find out for ourselves when SSX is released in January.
