Yakuza Black Panther 2 Gets Live Action TV Show
Sega will be releasing a live action television adaptation of Yakuza Black Panther 2. At a press conference held in Tokyo today, Developer Ryu ga Gotoku Studio shared first details on the eleven part drama, which will begin airing on late night television in April.
The first Black Panther game was also converted to a television drama. For the sequel, Takumi Saito reprises his role as main character Tatsuya. He's joined by the likes of Yuki Sato and Eri Okamoto. The show will have an original theme song from Han-Kun.
The story of the drama begins with Tatsuya's return to Kamurocho after one year spent wandering around Las Vegas. There, he finds members of the Osaka underground fighting ring Ashura walking around like they own the place. The drama will, like the game off which it's based, take place in both Tokyo and Osaka this time.
Sega's announcement of the new drama conversion came with some commentary from Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi. The first conversion was well received, said Nagoshi, which lead to this second conversion being given the green light. The theme this time is "bonds with people."
