Welcome to the New Cigar Aficionado Online

Posted: Sep 23, 2010 12:00am ET

I'd like to welcome you to the all-new Cigar Aficionado Online, the most cigar-friendly corner of the Internet. It's your online home for everything there is to know about cigars, fine drinks, and all aspects of living the good life.

It was more than 13 years ago when we launched the original Cigar Aficionado Online. To say the Web site has been a success would be a dramatic understatement. We won the National Magazine Award in 1999 for General Excellence in New Media (beating out such competition as People.com, Slate.com and TheStreet.com, not bad for a cigar magazine Web site!), but our greatest pride comes from the reception that we receive from readers such as you. Millions of people have visited over the years. This year, nearly two million people have come to our site, with more than 12 million page views.

The site has changed quite a bit. Today we have wonderful videos, blogs by our editors, an immensely popular countdown for our Top 25 cigars of the year, and so much more. Our Web site has always been about cigars and the good life. Now, it's all greatly improved. More about cigars, the people who make them and the celebrities who enjoy smoking them. There's more about the good life, from drinks to gambling to golf and more. And in today's world, where finding a place to enjoy your cigars is a challenge, we have a section called Where to Smoke that showcases the best spots around the globe that cater to cigar lovers. We've also improved our vast database (more than 13,000 and growing) of cigar ratings, and expanded our Personal Humidor, and better organized our vast archives of stories from Cigar Aficionado going back to our debut issue. You can read my editor's note from 1997 about the launch of the original Cigar Aficionado Online by clicking here. And if you're really curious, you can even read my editor's note from the very first issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine, from Autumn 1992.

We're proud of this Web site. So sit back, fire up a great cigar, and start looking around. We're all very happy to have you here.

How do I access CigarInsider? I don't see a login but rather a subscription application page.
I paid for a one year subscription as of June 9, 2010.

Cigar Aficionado is one of my favorite publications; and the website has the quality to match. Well done.

Dear Marvin, As a 18 year subscriber (as of the 2nd.Issue)I feel that I must speak-out.The October(my birth month)I found a very disturbing, insulting and horrific advert for hammer&sickle brand Just who Screwed-up??To have a tag-line "to live well" can you name any of the 100 million souls who have been butchered under the hammer&sickle flag?? Would you take the advertising of a cigar brand with the swastika on the band, with maybe the tag-line 'The ovens were Just Showers"?? I don't know what happened or who the insensitive moron who approved that ad was but that is probably a fire-able offense. As stated before I have been a subscriber since '92 and I would hate to cancel but if you don't address this I may.I know that you being a gazillionare my few dollars doesn't mean much but I believe that I speak for countless others that may have noticed this Highly Offensive ad,pleasr I don't think you need the money that much. Maybe you should contact the the mfg's of this product and tell them just what a BAD IDEA this is..Thank You very much,Richard Nicholson

After a couple of e-mails the technical team move all my cigars from my old locker to a new one created on this new web page to be able to access to my cigar insider account. Thanks for your help.

11/10/10, Greetings to Marvin Shanken.

As a longtime subscriber & relatively new computer user (2yrs), I switched to online publication in lieu of paper.

My favorite brand (@ reasonable price) is Nat Sherman, University 6x50.

Thx, p.weiters@comcast.net (yahoo.com).

Dear Marvin, I've been a long time reader of your great magazine. Each month I pull one of my favorite old issues and place it on my bar for my friends to thumb thru. This month it was the Feb '08 issue with the Blues Brothers featured on the cover. Imagine my delight when this month's issued arrived with 'lil Brother Jim Belushi on the cover. My question; have any other brothers graced your cover in the past?

11/25/10, I've been getting Aficionado for many years. As I grow more adept online, I get more things online.

This is my 1st computer (20mos); I order online from my retailer.

The online publication is not only better than the physical paper, It's got more stuff.

12/9/10, To the retailers of "Rocky Patel," thx for the samples although they (8) left me somewhat disappointed.

My favorite is still Nat Sherman. Thx all the same. ~~ PW.

Very poor design... extremely hard to navigate, functions such as CI do not work, It has gotten worse, not better. And I own a web design company!
