Profile

Brian Clough made John McGovern the club`s youngest ever league player when he handed the 16-year-old a debut against Bradford in 1966. The young midfielder was a regular for the next two years as Pools won promotion. Clough then swooped to sign his former player for his new club Derby County, and later made him his captain of his Nottingham Forest side that was crowned champions of England and Europe.
