Natsume Yuujinchou

Great slice of life anime with a twist, Natsume’s Book of Friends revolves around Natsume who inherits a book from his grandmother, who had the same ability as he does, the ability to see spirits or yokai.
The anime is now on the fourth season at the typing of writing this and shows no sign of getting weaker, so watch it for some relaxing awesomeness, I honestly can’t think of a single bad thing to say about the show. Very thoughtful and clever writing and yet fun at the same time. I do hope they’ll go into Madara’s backstory some more, he’s my favorite by far, either in normal form or as a lazy overeating sake drinking maneki neko.

Sledding

Eve has developed her preferred sledding technique, which involves laying down on her back and holding on for dear life. Her head is sticking out though, so it’ll drag behind the sled through the snow, causing her to laugh like mad all the way down while snow is spraying up. Unfortunately I only have a picture of her at the bottom of the hill (the one above here), would have loved to get the whole thing on video. As you can imagine Kate and me where damn near falling over laughing our ass off.
Amy hates the cold and usually goes in turtle mode as soon as we walk out the door, sticking her head in her coat, or even better ours. But for some reason ever since we gave her new gloves she thinks snow is awesome and she runs around smacking it. From one heap to the next, smack smack, big grins, next heap, smack smack. Weird kid.
Good fun. :)

The iPad is a PC

Nice topic, the iPad isn’t just a PC, it’s the ultimate personal computer.
The fact that some people still argue that it’s not a pc boggles the mind, well my mind anyway. Of course it’s a personal computer. Hell so’s my iPhone. Can it replace my desktop computer? No, not yet anyway, and I doubt it will anytime soon. That doesn’t make it less of a pc though.

Epic nosedive

Go figure, everyone’s falling on their ass with the ice and snow outside and I have to make an epic nosedive on the snow- and ice free gallery of our building. We ordered pizza last night, and when it finally arrived I was in a hurry to dive in, so I grabbed the boxes, closed the door and started to walk in when I remembered we’d also ordered a bottle of cola. Put everything down and opened the front door again but the delivery guy was sprinting off in the distance as he was already late for others.
So I decided to sprint down after him, full speed, on my socks. Which went ok, and insanely fast, until I tripped and fell. And not fell as in stumbling down, but no, hard nosedive at full speed. So now I’m limping around the house with bruises on foot, knee, elbow, shoulder and hands along with all those scraped in varying degrees.
Oh and the coke? I simply called and they delivered it 5 minutes later… yeah I should have done that right away.

Sledding with the class

Eve going down hill

Today the whole class went sledding in the snow. Quite fun with about 30 4 & 5 year olds, 2 teachers and about 6 parents trying to guide them all. Lots of slipping and sliding just walking to towards the hill, and once the sledding began I had fun trying to prevent them all from running each other over. ‘t was a good day.
And we survived. ;)

Sherlock

The BBC tv show called Sherlock is a weird thing. It manages to be awesome and totally horrendous at the same time, depending on your point of view.

Let’s put it this way, as a contemporary tv show centered around a London based detective who solves crimes with his sidekick it’s awesome. The plots are splendid roller coasters, the narrative and dialogues sharp and witty, and the camera work and artistic direction is inspirational.

On the other hand, I can’t help but hate that they had to name it Sherlock and base it on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. If you love those books, there will be a lot of wtf moments that will make you almost stop watching.
Two examples of this; the book Sherlock is asexual, he’s so wrapped up in developing his mind that he’s beyond sex (or in fact morality and good & bad). This being a BBC show however they decided in their infinite wisdom to make Sherlock gay. Awesome. In any other case it’d just be lame (hello Torchwood), in this case it simply does not fit the Sherlock character in any way or form.
Other example; this one’s so sad it’s laughable. In the original book series Sherlock sometimes resorts to using cocaine to keep his thinking mojo going. Fast forward to the 21st century and BBC censorship and they decided this was probably not a good idea to advertise to their already drunk and stupid average viewer, so they replaced it. They should have just ripped it out altogether considering how badly they assassinated the Sherlock character, but no they replaced it. With nicotine patches. I kid you not. That’s like doing a remake of a classic western and when the silent and serious looking main character goes for a drink they replace the bottle of whiskey with a baby bottle with orange juice. Epic face palm moment.

If you haven’t seen it yet go grab it somewhere as it is definitely worth checking out. It’s one of, if not THE, best detective series out there at the moment even though they only do 3 episodes (albeit it 90 minute ones) a year.
Just don’t expect it to have to much to do with Sherlock Holmes.

Snow at last

And it looks like it’ll stay for at least this week. I hope. The snowgods sure took their time though.

Sleepy

Me: “Are you sleepy?”
Amy: “No.” then rubs her little eyes “Yes.”
Priceless.

Work in progress... home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
