Time for the Friday wrap-up! In case you missed the news and are wondering what happened in the community this week, you can check out the following days.

    - Monday: Manic!

    - Tuesday: Blog Bunker - Soap Club

    - Wednesday: Silver Screen

    - Thursay: Rockin' Reviews

    Wrap It Up

All-Time Greatest Game Sidekick Voting started Monday for this year's All-Time Greatest contest. You have a lot of people to go through, but you can start by voting on the 64 different characters who will enter the competition. There are 13 possible emblems for this year's contest as well as some pretty great prizes up for grabs. Character voting ends August 28, so to make sure your picks make it to the Bracket Selection stage, be sure to VOTE!

An Unreal Community Game Night On Wednesday we had our Community Game Night, and GameSpotters got a chance to take on JodyR, aka xpcali girl, at Unreal Tournament 2004. Who will the MVP be? Well, that is still being decided, and with Jody being in Seattle, we won't know until next week, so be sure to check back.

    Member Spotlight

This week's Member Spotlight shines on benleslie5 for his blog cheering those unsung sidekicks who didn't quite make it to the All-Time Greatest ranking. Benleslie has written several game reviews--his latest being his review on Bayonetta--and has contributed videos, like his 700th blog video. So three cheers for benleslie!

    Union of the Week

For this week's Union of the Week we congratulate GreggD and the Castlevania Ultima Union! It originally started in January 2006, with humble beginnings, but has risen to greatness. Currently they have 704 users with new ones joining every month, and they are GameSpot endorsed. For more info on this union, you can check out Ranger siberian142's interview.

    You've Been Spotted

In this week's You've Been Spotted we talk about zombies and zombies and…what else…more zombies! And more importantly, what people on Fuse, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter had to say about those zombies. Check out the video on our Spotlight Channel or right here on GameSpot.

    August 22, 2011

-All-Time Greatest Game Sidekick - Vote Now!
Yep, you heard it here. It's that time of the year for the All-Time Greatest Sidekick. Amigo, ally, cohort, partner, friend, pal--no matter what you call them, they are important, nay essential, for making a hero truly great. Where would Frodo be without Sam, or Batman without Robin, or Sherlock without Watson? Well, now you have your chance to vote and make GameSpot history by letting us know who you think is the best. But make sure to move quickly because the final battle is Friday, so vote now!

-Call of Duty: Black Ops - Rezurrection:
Ryan MacDonald is ready to show off some awesome Call of Duty: Black Ops - Rezurrection DLC action just moments after its release on the X360. GameSpot will be having a Now Playing at 2 a.m. Yep, you heard right: 2:00 a.m.! We will have a chatroom, and Ryan will be doing his best to take your questions about this Call of Duty event. Be sure to check it out!

-Community Game Night - Unreal Tournament 2004:
GameSpot's Jody Robinson will be taking on challengers for our Unreal Tournament 2004 Community Game Night in this all-out drag-down frag fest. Join us on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. for a night of rocket-launching, lightning-gunning, ion-painting action. Though watch out for xpcaligirl with that ball launcher; she's pretty wicked. For more information, you can check out this discussion here on the GameSpot Community Game Night Union.

    -Primed for PAX:
GameSpot is headed north for PAX Prime. There's no rest for the weary here in the office. We'll be sending our editors off to one of the premier events of the season. What are you excited to see this year? Well, to get just a little taste of what's abuzz on the GameSpot forums, check out this thread here. What are some of the things you can expect from us during the event? You're just gonna have to check back to find out.

The winners of last week's Plants vs. Zombies giveaway are these three lucky YouTube viewers! Mikelisaigars, ShinyFlitwick, and Limak! Want to see what they won? Check out the video on our YouTube Spotlight Channel or on Synthia's Video Page. Big Shot Bounty airs once a week on Wednesdays, so be sure to check out what you can win next!

    -Belated Member Spotlight:
Last Friday JodyR posted a thought-provoking blog asking users what they wanted to see changed, while at the same time assuring those users that we would do our best to hear their voices and cries of help and try to fix and improve the things that you as users felt needed to be adjusted. This week's Member Spotlight goes to those brave individuals who over the weekend posted in her blog to tell her exactly what was on their minds. So congrats everyone. Your feedback is extremely important to the Community team here at GameSpot.

Well, that just about wraps things up for Monday. Be sure to check back tomorrow for Blog Bunker: Zombie Edition.

Time for the Friday wrap-Up! In case you have missed the news and are wondering what happened to your classic Weekly Report, we made some changes to the old thing. It is now the Daily Report, where we will be offering different updates for different days. And Friday is your wrap-up of the events that happened during the week.

Call of Duty: XP Ticket Giveaway
Because of the limited number of tickets available, it is important for you to submit your awesome entry before it's too late. You have until August 23 to click "like" and subscribe. Don't forget that submitting a text or video response improves your chances.

    Plants vs. Zombies Giveaway
We finish up our Plants vs. Zombies video featuring Sophia Tong, Jody Robinson, and Synthia Weires, where if you submit your video response, you have a chance to win some awesome and exclusive PVZ swag.

Sophia: Diary of a Minecraft BlockHead
Sophia talks about the Minecraft Community Game Night, along with sharing screenshots of the game night. Will we be having another Minecraft Game Night? Only time will tell, but my hunch is "yes."

    Gamescom Kicks Off
We said auf wiedersehen and shipped Maxwell and Shaun off to Germany where they have been bringing us the latest game coverage. They will be covering all that Gamescom has to offer from August 17 through August 21.

    Blog Bunker
Tuesdays gets the bloggers noticed. This week's flavor seems to be all over the map with stuff about the Wii, Star Wars, Bastion, and more!

    Visual Entertainment
Wednesdays are now dedicated to the art of video entertainment. We will be showcasing videos that have made it to the YouTube GameSpot Spotlight, courtesy of the Video Virtuosos.

    Reader Reviews
Thursdays are now dedicated to the art of the review, where we feature the week's Top 100 and Top 500 and reviews for games that belong to our "Most Popular" list.

  • You've Been Spotted!

We've been in the process of trying new things for GameSpot community news and our YouTube Spotlight channel lately. And, well, frankly, not many people have been excited about the weekly report based on your comments. So, we're considering some changes for the weekly report, but until our new community news plan is determined, we've got this new video segment for you to check out.

First, let me explain why it's a bit different! We've decided that in addition to maybe a video segment for GameSpotters in the near future, it was time to bring a broader approach to all of our fans in other areas of the Internet. So, we've got Twitter followers who aren't even GameSpot members, Facebook followers who don't use GameSpot, and obviously lots of YouTubers who haven't registered on GameSpot. We don't want to exclude them, but we also want to make sure we highlight you all as well, and that's where Fuse shout-outs come in!

Go check out our first episode of You've Been Spotted on the GameSpot Spotlight channel and let us know what you think! Also, don't forget to accept the challenge about a better caption for Team Joker! You can post it here or on YouTube.

This week we will be having not one but two Community Game Nights!

    Counter-Strike: Source and Minecraft

The first up is Counter-Strike Source (PC) on Wednesday, August 10, at 5:00 p.m. There will be a chatroom open for discussion, and we will be releasing details on the map and server IP the day of the game in the chatroom. Word around the office is that Ryan MacDonald plans on joining us for this night of awesome frag fun. So for your chance to take on Mac himself, be sure to get those mouse fingers warmed up. You can find more information about the Game Night here.

The second game is one that has GameSpot editor Sophia Tong enthralled. If the "Diary of a Minecraft Blockhead" wasn't enough, now we will be having a second night dedicated to Minecraft in all its pixelated glory. Friday, August 12, at 5:00 p.m. we will be kicking things off with GameSpot editor Sophia Tong, GameSpot Community, and more! Click here for additional information and discussion.

UPDATE: Participants of this game night will receive a Minecraft achievement. Sophia also updated her blog to share how new players can get in the action tonight. Check that out, and don't forget that this weekend the Minecraft peeps have buy 1 get 1 free offer happening! So buy your game for tonight and give a gift code to a friend!

UPDATE 2: Sophia said she'll post the IP in the comments and in the chatroom as it gets closer to game night time! Also, here's the chatroom!

For more details on these and other Community Game Night details, check out the Community Game Night union.

FINAL UPDATE: The weekly report isn't happening this week, but we'll be sure to update you on some cool things happening early next week.

    Cosplay Interviews
We saw a variety of amazing costumes and so much creativity, and your very own Jody Robinson couldn't help but talk to a couple of these creative cosplayers about their creations!

    Costume Battles
This year, we introduced our new battle feature: pitting costume against costume. This seemed to get a lot of attention this year. If you haven't voted yet, then give it a look.

  • Game and Achievements Tracking Update

Looks like some people have been confused about Achievements Tracking and Now Playing summaries that are missing from their profiles. A couple of days ago, Boubou announced some changes that are in the works for your game data. We also had a sticky thread in the Fuse forum that outlined the downtime. Be sure to read through both links we've provided, and we thank you for the patience during this time.

This year you'll also want to look out for some surprises, because we have many up our sleeves. Also, another thing you should look out for is an image feature where you can interact with other GameSpotters, so check back later this week to see what that's all about.

    Socialize, Create, & Celebrate!

    GameSpot Secret Identity Contest
With all the super activities to prepare for Comic-Con, we started wondering what Super Identity we were associated with. After all the fun we had discussing it and tossing the idea around the office, we've decided to ask you GameSpotters what you thought our supersecret identities were. And for those who participate, we will be offering a shiny new emblem along with possibly getting a profile power-up. Visit this page for more information.

    Publisher Wars
Who's better, DC or Marvel? We all know that this is a hot topic among those comic book illuminates, and we want to see the fight! In this thread, you and your fellow GameSpotters can duke it out over who is the better publisher, who is the better hero, and whether or not Wonder Woman looks better in her hot pants or her no pants.

We want you to come up with your very own anthem to Comic-Con by crafting a parody of several popular songs by various artists. What could you win, you may wonder.
