    Issues With the Site Continue
We understand that these issues are frustrating, and we appreciate your patience during this time. If you notice something wrong with the site's functionality, please feel free to let us know in the site enhancements forums. And make sure to keep in mind that clear and concise descriptions about the issue are far more useful than telling us something like "L2 not glitch GS."

    What's Happening?

    Games Pages Updated
Remember when we told you that there would be some changes made to the game pages late last week to allow easier searches through places like Yahoo! and Google? Well, it has finally happened! Check out the changes by visiting one of my most anticipated games: Skyrim. Feel free to share your feedback in the Site Enhancements forum.

    Uncharted 3 Game Night: Canceled
Due to a technical difficulty and lack of resources, we will be canceling the Uncharted 3 Game Night that was set to take place on Wednesday. We will be revisiting our future potential game nights, as well as taking suggestions for potential game nights for the remainder of 2011.

    September and October Trivia Winners
We gave away a lot of really awesome prizes over the past six weeks during our "Now Playing" and "On the Spot" episodes. What was up for grabs? Who won the prizes? Well check out this report for details.

    Sonic-Themed Playground
Last Friday, the GameSpot Community traveled to the mystical land of Oakland to build a playground with Sega and Kaboom to build a Sonic-inspired playground. And after a few tons of concrete and sod later, the play space was finished. For more details on this event, be sure to check out Synthia's blog later this week.

Saints Row: The Third - Character Battle
GameSpot's character battle presented by Boost Mobile is off to a strong start. With hundreds of creative submissions, the playing field has been narrowed to a mere 100 entries. Who will win ultimate bragging rights? The character that receives the most votes during the battle period will be deemed the winner of the King of Saints Character Battle and become the first in the queue of characters available in the Saints Row: The Third game. Vote for your favorite NOW!

UPDATE at 2:40 PM PT :Profile URL Changes
We've made some changes to the profile url, which will keep your account secure. The "~self" part in your profile is there for privacy, which will avoid revealing usernames to advertisers. However, at this time if you try to share a blog or content from your profile the page will likely display the user who visits it. For instance, drop by a recent blog and it will show your profile banner and avatar, which is a bug. The best way to resolve it is to have a permalink, which is something the technical staff will resolve at some point.

  • Game Pages Update Coming Soon!

We'll be making some changes to the game pages sometime today. The changes will make it much easier to find GameSpot content in the search engines. Be sure to use the FEEDBACK tab on the any of the game pages, and if you have technical problems, you'll want to drop by the Technical Support forum.

UPDATE at 4:37pm PT on 11/3: I've been notified that the changes won't be happening today. Also, when it does happen, there won't be a Feedback tabs on the pages. If you have any feedback you can post them in the comments or the Site Enhancements forum.

UPDATE at 4:18pm PT on 11/4: False alarm! Looks like it won't be happening until early next week. Thanks for your patience on the changes.

  • Little Break

    Hello GameSpotters!

We're going to be taking a little break from the daily reports, but they will pick back up during the week of November 5. You can still expect some random announcements in the community news, but it won't include the user videos, reviews, and blogs.

Also, don't forget that we have multiple Halloween activities happening around the site, and be sure to watch and comment on the Halloween episode of On the Spot. We'll be handing out a crazy Tom Magrino with an Afro emblem sometime next week.

As for other interesting things happening on the site, Saints Row: The Third Initiation Station is something you should check out! We also published Episode 2 of The Controller, and there's a roll call thread you should post in for a chance at the Episode 2 emblem. That's it for now. I'll see you next week.

    Platform Battle: Battlefield 3

super_tails [9.5 - Superb] Arkham City stands out alone as a awesome Batman game, but also a fantastic follow up from 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum.

    Member Spotlight

This week's Member Spotlight shines on Sebadonut for his winning entry in the Pixel Perfect Emblem creation competition. His emblem will now live on in the GameSpot website for years to come. So thank you Sebadonut for your fantastic contribution.

    Union of the Week

This week's featured union is a magical one, where friendship is key. You've seen the meme, and maybe even heard of the show, but there's no denying that these fine folks who have a passion for all things pony have anything less than a fine union filled with activities and creative members. I had the pleasure of having an interview with the union's leader, Overlord93, which you can read here.

Tip of the Week: Video Auto-Switch On or Off

Ever wonder how you turn off the autoplay option for our GameSpot videos? Well you can! Next time you're visiting one of our videos, check the options in the bottom right. You'll see next to the embed button, the volume button and the full-screen button. There is the button that allows you to determine what quality of video you watch. One of those options is one marked "Auto." Simply click this button and the auto feature will be gone with the wind! A bit thanks to dab198 for the reminder!

    Activity

In this week's episode of You've Been Spotted we challenged you to discuss what you are dressing up as for Halloween in the comments below. You could even share what you would like to dress up as for Halloween, and receive profile points! Bonus points to anyone who includes a picture of them in their costume!

  • The Controller: Battlefield 3 Reality Show Premieres!

The Controller is a new reality show featuring Battlefield 3. Six pros will be challenged to coach a noob for a chance at $50,000. The first episode is live on YouTube! Later today, you'll have the chance to sign up for a predictions leaderboard, so stay tuned for more details.

GameSpot is proud to announce "The Controller", a new reality show featuring Battlefield 3. Twelve gamers, guys and girls, the "Pros" and the "Noobs." A seasoned gamer will pair up with a novice for a chance to win as they compete in the dusty "Battle Zone" of So. Cal. But there is a catch: Only the noobs will be allowed to touch the controllers while the professionals coach (or scream) at their teammates from the sidelines.

Starting October 21 on GameSpot's official YouTube channel, the show will bring together the gamers to compete in various challenges both in game and on the field. The show will be an eight-episode miniseries where the six teams will eventually be whittled down to two with the final chance to compete for a $50,000 grand prize. You can expect to see pros like TSquared and Mrs. Violence, along with AyIIIa from Real World Cancun and Chet from Real World Brooklyn, as well as the awesome FreddieW.

GameSpot will also be bringing you daily streams of behind-the scenes videos, thanks to our very own Homer Rabara and Ryan MacDonald. You can join the conversation by following @GameSpot on Twitter or by using #TheController.

    Recap

Last Friday, we wrapped things up pretty tightly with GameSpotter's Blog Bunker, GameFlick, and Player Review contributions, as well as talking about MLG Orlando, AGDC Online, and the unofficial GameSpot Minecraft block party. We offered a tip about embedding videos and shared a union activity with the code name "Project Pamper."

    What's Happening!

    The Controller
What happens when you combine the awesome skills of six professional gamers with the blundering of six video game noobs? Starting October 21, GameSpot and EA have teamed up to bring you a new reality show featuring Battlefield 3, where gamers will compete in both gaming and physical challenges for a chance at prizes, cash, and gamer glory. Check out the trailer here.

    Facebook GameFly Giveaway
GameSpot is giving you a chance to win a free year of GameFly. Liking us on Facebook simply enters you for your chance to win. Only US and 18 years old or older candidates are entered to win. But act quickly; you only have until October 26 at 12:00 p.m. PT. For more details, check out our Facebook page here.

    BlizzCon
BlizzCon is less than a week away, and before we know it, the video team along with Maxwell McGee and Tom Magrino will be packing up and heading to the event, with mini murlocs in tote. What are some things we hope to see this year at BlizzCon? Last year's big unveil was the witch doctor for Diablo 3. What will it be this year? DoTA, StarCraft, WoW, Diablo… PANDAS? Only time will tell. If there is something that you are hoping to see during our coverage of the event, be sure to check off in this BlizzCon thread here.

    The Recap

GameSpotter's Contributions: This week's Blog Bunker had quite a few entries with over 20 different blogs. The Gameflicks report was a little quieter than usual, but we shared many GameSpot Spotlight classics to make up the difference. And the Gamer Reviews seemed to favor Xbox 360 titles, though the PlayStation 3 followed close behind, with PC and handheld titles bringing up the rear.

BlizzCon 2011 Coverage - Coming Soon
BlizzCon kicks off on Friday, October 21. What are some things that we hope to see? More news on World of Warcraft and some FuFighting? Perhaps even some DOTA action? Some StarCraft perhaps? Well, whatever ends up being shared with the world will be covered by us in full force. GameSpot editors Tom Magrino and Maxwell McGee will be bringing you some excellent coverage. Is there something you want us to cover? Be sure to sound off in our BlizzCon thread here.

    GameSpot Minecraft Block Party
As some of you may know, there are a few GameSpot staff members who fancy the game quite a bit. And if you've been paying attention to the good folks over at GameSpot UK, you are already aware that GameSpot is hosting a Minecraft server, and we would like to invite you to join us! For more details on the GameSpot server, check out FearTheCreeper's blog.

    AGDC Online 2011 Wrap-Up
Another year at GDC in Austin has come and gone, and it was an interesting time. We've heard doomsday about the end of consoles, microtransation missteps, and calls for game maturity. There were many other exciting stories to read as well. Check out our news coverage of the event at this page here.

    Member Spotlight

Earlier this week, we mentioned that we had a copy of the Battlefield 3 novel The Russian to give away to the GameSpot user who could come up with the best cover art for the novel. We had several entries, and after thinking long and hard, GameSpot editors Carolyn, Maxwell, and Fuse sensation CharlieSpot all weighed in with a unanimous vote. The winner of the Member Spotlight, the book, and the level up is -DaNuTz- for his awesome entry.

    Union of the Week

This week's featured union is "Union of Ice and Fire". This union features a community for those who are fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire and the HBO TV version known commonly as "Game of Thrones." This is a new and close-knit community, and I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the leader and GameSpot moderator Artekus. You can read the interview here.

    Tip of the Week

    Embedding Videos on Your Blog
Ever want to show off a video on your blog? It's as easy as ctrl+C and ctrl+V. If the video is currently on GameSpot, all you have to do is fetch the BBCODE for the video and paste it in your blog. You might think that you need to be a GameSpot Total Access Subscriber for this awesome feature, but all you have to be is a Phoenix Down (a level 10 GameSpot member).

    Activity

    Project Pamper
Attention unions! As promised, we'll be starting some union activities to help with your union's level gain. This week is Project Pamper. For more details about this activity, click here.

By: Azail11 [3.5 - Bad] An attempt to place the Ace Combat universe in the real world, but without excitement or real physics
    -7. Portal 2 (PC)
