Andy Scoulding joined Roy Hodgson in swapping Fulham for Liverpool in the summer of 2010 after being installed as the club's Head of Technical Analysis at Melwood.
The Kent-born analyst completed a Sports Science degree at Swansea University before taking up a position with ProZone, who dispatched him to Abu Dhabi to work as a consultant for Al Wahda FC.
Andy returned to England to join Fulham in a consultancy position in 2005, before being taken on by the Cottagers directly a year later, where he worked closely with both Hodgson and first-team coach Mike Kelly.
He believes the technology played a big part in helping the London club retain its Premiership status in 2007-08 as well as enjoy a fine 2009-10 season, in which they defied the odds to reach the Europa League final.
"I've been asked to come in and revamp what we do, using my experiences at Fulham, I really think we can push it on to another level," he explains.
"I hope to move things on through investment in technology with a pioneering approach to its integration, new staff and as a tool to increase the education of both coaches and players.
"It can be a massive benefit to the team. I believe players can learn a lot from watching their performances and those of their opposition. It's this consistent message of how the manager wants his players to perform, his philosophy, which we will help illustrate. I know it played a integral part in the success of Fulham last season and I hope we can push it on again with Liverpool.
"I think it is a massive part of the modern game and it's only going to get bigger. To come here and do it at one of the biggest clubs in the world is a fantastic opportunity and one I couldn't say no to."
Andy's responsibilities at Liverpool include helping prepare the team for matches by creating visual scout reports on the opposition, as well as analysing the Reds' own performances in detail.
He says: "There isn't a typical day for me, we work on a cycle of pre and post-match.
"Pre-match, we will edit a minimum of three games on the opposition, looking at tactical aspects of their game for both attacking and defending situations.
"This information is delivered back to the players via the manager, Mike and Sammy in our team meetings. The videos and statistics all combine to give a visual representation of the scouting reports.
"We then code the game live using the SportsCode software and have in-game analysis; this is also the start of our post-match, so we analyse the game according to the manager's football philosophy in as much detail as we can.
"ProZone provide our post-match statistics and this information supports the videos where we look for both positive and negative aspects of our play."
