Microsoft's Xbox 360 motion sensor Kinect is being used in a US department store to help female customers find the perfect pair of jeans. A post on the Kinect For Windows blog reveals that Bloomingdale's in Century City, Los Angeles, debuted the Bodymetrics Pod earlier this week. Developed by London-based Bodymetrics, it uses eight Kinect sensors to produce a 3D map of a customer's body shapes and chooses a pair of jeans that both fits and flatters. Some 22,500 videogame industry professionals attended last week's Game Developers Conference, organisers have confirmed. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 17 per cent for the event, and sets a new attendance record. Epic Games has shown off the progress it has made running Unreal Engine in Flash, saying that its long-term goal is to run the Samaritan demo in Adobe's technology. Speaking during a GDC presentation, Epic Games VP Mark Rein showed off Dungeon Defenders running in full screen just as well as it does on PS3, according to Gamesindustry.biz. Francois Lapikas, gameplay director on Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution, has said he is "truly sorry" for the game's divisive boss fights. Facebook paid out $1.4 billion (£883.9 million) to app developers last year, according to the company's games product manager. Speaking at GDC in San Francisco yesterday, Matt Wyndowe said the figure showed how serious Facebook was about its role as a gaming platform, with his team's regular meetings with Facebook's senior management further reinforcing the point. Capcom says that at least half of its revenue and operating profit will come from digital sales within the next five years. The claim comes from Christian Svensson, SVP of Capcom Entertainment, in an interview with Gamasutra at GDC in San Francisco, in which he says the growth of digital distribution, and day-and-date retail and digital releases, means such a transition is inevitable.
