Sources have told IGN that mass production of the system's GPU is to begin before the end of the year, with the console on shelves in late October or early November 2013. Microsoft has added an achievement system to its Visual Studio development tool. Logically dubbed Visual Studio Achievements, the system, explained in a blog post, lets devs unlock 32 achievements and compete on leaderboards. 3Cloud gaming service OnLive has further expanded its reach today by announcing OnLive Desktop, a free app which brings Microsoft Windows to Apple's iPad. The company says OnLive Desktop is the first "no-compromise" Windows experience on iPad, which will give full access to Windows 7 applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Microsoft has moved to insist that its Xbox Live service hasn't been breached, and that the ongoing glut of account thefts are the result of phishing attacks.
