How the Piggy Cookie Crumbles

It feels good to say YES

(Updated: Here’s the recipe!)

Two days ago, 4-year-old Daniel spent the better part of an hour browsing the pages of one of the girls’ cookie cookbooks. Frequently, he called me over to show me hat he thought was a particularly yummy-looking photo.

I found his interest in baked goods endearing and I was in a capable mood, so I told him to pick any recipe he wanted and I would buy the ingredients and make the cookies the next day.

He chose the pigs.

Of course he did.

He picked the recipe where you bake the cookies, let them cool, make the frosting, color the frosting, prepare the decorations, and then craft piggies out of marshmallows, bits of wafers, and pieces of candy.

Let me tell you: They turned out great. Ours might not have been quite as picture-perfect as the ones pictured above, but they were adorable. They had character. Personality. And the best part was how seriously the little boys took the work of frosting and decorating them.

It was a great afternoon. A great reminder of the value of sometimes saying Yes. Even when you usually wouldn’t. Maybe even especially when you usually wouldn’t.

Those are adorable. Im guessing that the cookie is a basic sugar cookie recipe…am I right? I think my kiddos would love these little piggies:)

Yes, you could make them with any sugar cookie, but this one was especially yummy (it had sour cream in it). I will look for the recipe ... I know it’s online somewhere.

I found the recipe and updated the post. Happy baking!

“and I was in a capable mood”

Lol. I love that—so accurate. What cute cookies, too!

My mom (grandma’s are always so much more “capable,” right?) made these with our toddlers last spring and they were adorable—and so good!  This is a good reminder—thanks!

these are adorable!!  we are having a toy story 3 birthday party in a few weeks and i was planning on doing alien cupcakes, but now am wanting to have these too1 (my son saw the picture and said, “mama, Ham!”

what are the eyes and nostrils made of?

How cute.  I bet you could do the sam thing on top of cupcakes frosted pink.

Hi Danielle ~ I love to make cookies with my grandchildren, and my 8-year-old-granddaughter Anna is “so-into-baking”.  I have even started a cookbook of favorite recipes for her, and this one will go in the cookbook.  Thank you for taking the time to be a good mom for your children ~ and for sharing those good times with us…..God Bless you and your family.
