Apple has released the results of an annual audit of working conditions at the 156 suppliers involved in the manufacture of its products. The full list includes the controversial Foxconn, Chinese manufacturer of iPhone, iPad and Mac, as well as the likes of Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and Panasonic. Cloud gaming service OnLive has further expanded its reach today by announcing OnLive Desktop, a free app which brings Microsoft Windows to Apple's iPad. The company says OnLive Desktop is the first "no-compromise" Windows experience on iPad, which will give full access to Windows 7 applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Apple is cracking down on piracy of App Store software by issuing takedown notices to a popular source of cracked iOS apps under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA). Cult Of Mac reports that Apple has issued DMCA takedown notices to Apptrackr. As a result, Apptrackr has moved its servers to different countries where the DMCA does not apply. More >

The top 200 apps on the iPhone App Store generated four times as much revenue last month as those on the Android Market, according to a new study. The report, by mobile analytics firm Distmo, also found that iPad apps made twice as much money as their Android Market equivalent. It also shows a dramatic shift towards freemium, with half of the top 200 iPhone apps, and 65 per cent of Android apps, are free-to-play and supported by in-app purchasing. More >

Nvidia's new quad-core mobile processor, Tegra 3, offers only a modest improvement over Apple's A5, according to early benchmark tests. Big Fish Games has announced an OnLive-alike game streaming service for the iPad after securing Apple's approval to use App Store subscriptions for videogames. Bloomberg reports that the Seattle-based casual gaming company will offer users instant access to its library of games from iPad for $4.99 a month, rising to $6.99 next year when more games are added.
