The Fades – a new supernatural horror show that premiered on BBC America on Saturday – might be the best looking show the BBC has ever done. That’s kind of faint praise, as generally BBC shows just don’t have the massive “lookin’ good” budget that American TV does; but even by those standards, this show has an impressive visual style that compares favorably to a David Fincher movie, but with way more Star Wars references.
And that’s all well and good, but what’s the show about, you ask? That’s a great question, and I want to preface this by saying that I’m going to spend a good long while talking about the problems with the show, before ultimately telling you its well worth your precious TV watching time… Particularly if you want one of the most unique takes on a zombie apocalypse story in any medium. Parrot, the company behind the high-flying, iOS-powered AR Drone, has partnered with Philippe Starck to bring the ZIK ultra-deluxe set of Bluetooth headphones to the market. These gorgeous looking headphones are active noise canceling through the use of three external microphones, and they can be used with your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone or through multiple audio sources through the cable jack.
One of the coolest features is the addition of a touch panel on the right earpiece,. which allows you to set the volume by sweeping your finger vertically, and you can select tracks by moving your finger left or right. They also contain a presence-sensor system that shuts off the headphones when they are removed, so you won't have to worry about wearing down the battery when you aren't wearing it. Read more...

At this year's CES Polaroid a new line of Premium 3D Vision glasses that use passive circular-polarized 3D technology, hoping to save people the embarrassment of being caught in chunky, boring 3D glasses. These glasses are curved, not flat, and have been designed for professional use as well. People that work with 3D images spend eight hours a day looking through these lenses, and who wants to look boring while they work?
The Professional 3D Eyewear line also includes two frames with interchangeable lenses, one set is 3D while the other set contains sunglass lenses. They also offer Dual Gaming glasses that split the image on a television into two signals so that both players wearing the glasses can see different images, cutting out the need for splitscreen gameplay. If you've ever had to share a screen with someone in Call of Duty 3: Modern Warfare, then you know how much it sucks to give up real estate on the screen.
“We are excited to showcase our latest 3D eyewear line at CES and look forward to showing consumers how attainable a high-quality 3D experience is whether in the movie theater, at work, or in the home, “ said Jerry Dreifuss, global marketing director at Polaroid Eyewear. “Polaroid Eyewear’s line features circular technology and fashionable frames, providing both the technology and style 3D fans have come to expect from Polaroid.”
Stay tuned to MTV Geek for more CES 2012 coverage in both the second and third dimensions.

You probably know JAKKS from their line of plug and play video games, like the old-school joystick you can plug in to have Ms. Pac-Man magically appear on your screen for some retro-arcade, zombie-blasting action. "AMC is excited to work with JAKKS Pacific to provide an innovative way for our fans to enjoy more of 'The Walking Dead,'" said Marci Wiseman, AMC's Senior Vice President of Business Affairs.
The Walking Dead Deluxe TV Game from JAKKS brings to life the show's action with a realistic 'pump and shoot' shotgun controller, multiple levels of Zombie adventures, and a variety of game modes. As with all of JAKKS' TV Games titles, the controller simply plugs into the A/V jacks of any standard TV and contains multiple games in each controller, and no additional consoles or software are needed. While not yet rated, the game is submitted for an ESRB T for Teen video game rating.
The game will feature multiple modes and will retail for $39.99, and features animated models of characters from the TV show. No word if they'll include Merle Dixon for some redneck zombie action, although they could include him in the JAKKS Big Buck Hunter Pro game for authenticity.

Fringe came roaring back tonight with an episode that may – or may not – signal the start of the endgame for its very last season. Given the twists, turns, and surprising returns we saw in this hour (particularly the final few minutes), I certainly hope not… But if the final minute revelation is to be believed, its also possible we’re heading to a truly definitive ending for the series at the end of this season, whether we want one or not.
Now, before I get into any sort of recap – and I will, don’t worry – there’s a key phrase that Joshua Jackson’s character Peter Bishop says about three-quarters of the way through the episode. It’s a phrase that indicates why Fringe, when its really firing up the serialization, works so well for fans, and is a huge barrier for anyone interested in casually watching the show. That phrase is, “It’s complicated.” Read more...

This weekend, BBC America’s Saturday night is all new with UK horror import The Fades, and a brand new episode of The Nerdist featuring Alison Brie and The Big Bang Theory‘s Kunal Nayyar! So, you know, there’s your Saturday night for you.
Oh, you want more details? The Fades is about a teenager named Paul who can see ghosts. Who like to kill people. And he finds he may not just have the power to stop them, but also can see the future… And it looks like he’s already lost. We’ve actually seen the first two episodes of the show, and it’s a stylish, very dark horror show mixed with an insane amount of geeky references to everything from Star Wars to Alan Moore. The nice thing is that the leads actually feel like they might be the awkward nerds you see at conventions, and not just hunky actors wearing thick rimmed glasses. Read more...
