PlayStation Vita Sells 42,000 in Third Week

The third entry in the Idolmaster gravure series was the only new software entry this week. The hybrid Blu-ray combines episodes of the Idolmaster anime with a PS3 photography game.

The numbers had their expected fall from the week prior, but 3DS continued its reign at the top of the Media Create hardware charts as 2011 came to a close.

Media Create's figures for December 26 through January 1, released today, show 3DS at 197,952 units, nearly beating all other platforms combined.

Vita continued to fall. After a 324,859 unit debut, the system fell in its second week to 72,479 units. In its third week, the system sold 42,648 units.

In software, there were no major releases, so the ordering remained pretty much the same as last week. The only debut was the third Idolmaster anime hybrid disc, which debuted on the PlayStation 3 at 14.
