The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress was given the thumbs up by many women attending the Cape Town Wedding Festival on Friday.

The royal wedding was broadcast on big screens at the festival.

The crowd of mostly women whispered to each other, exchanging predictions about the design of the gown.

When they glimpsed the lace trim and sweet-heart bust, most could not contain their excitement.

This woman said the beautiful gown was worth the wait.

“I think it’s a stunning dress, it suits her. It’s not over the top and flamboyant like I expected it to be. It’s very simple and it’s like her - just plain, simple, classic,” she said.

Others sipped champagne and toasted the happy couple as they exchanged vows.
