Babies Crazy May
Posted by Arwen Mosher in Family on Wednesday, June 01, 2011 3:00 PM
When I woke this morning and realized it is June, I breathed a sigh of relief.
On May 1st, I got up and said to my husband, “This will probably be the month we have the babies!” I had no idea what a crazy month it would be.
The wild ride began on May 2nd, when I was 33 weeks exactly, with a visit to labor & delivery triage that gave us our first indication the twins might be coming sooner rather than later. It continued later that week with a two-night hospitalization to stop preterm labor and a few days of strict bed rest at home. Then the babies and my body weren’t willing to wait any more, and Linus Michael and Ambrose John were born at 12:38 and 12:41am on May 12th, at 34 weeks 3 days gestation.
Then came the hardest part of the month, the babies’ two-week-long NICU stay. The days alternately dragged and flew as I tried to balance the needs of my older kids and my babies while also pumping, driving back and forth to the hospital, and managing to get (almost) enough food and sleep.
But we were blessed - our little guys were healthy and did not have to stay at the hospital for long. We brought home Linus on Friday, May 27th and Ambrose on Sunday, May 29th. It was the happiest day of the month.
(The picture above was taken that day. Linus is on the left, Ambrose is on the right.)
We’re settling in now. Life with a four-year-old, a two-year-old, and newborn twins is not for the faint of heart. But Bryan and I make a good team, we have help, and I’m so grateful to have my babies in my arms that hardly anything can faze me.
Happy June!

I’ve been following your journey, but this is the first time I’ve commented: Congratulations to you and Bryan, Blake & Camille on the arrival of Linus & Ambrose. I too have a newborn - but only one! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
A happy month, indeed! We are looking forward to a gender-revealing ultrasound tomorrow! (We usually do not find out, but due to our previous pregnancy loss, we are going to this time!) I have been watching May go by ever so slowly. HELLO, JUNE!!!
